Summary: Good product but limited capabilities! It works great as a Media PC, but not very good definition (at least in a 54' LED TV) if writing or regular web surfing. Great to download a movie/TV show and watch it. Comes with Win8 and refuses to install Win7. I don't like Win8, i think might be great for touch screens but for regular PC falls short (as usual for a windows copycat). OVERALL GOOD PRODUCT, but I installed it in the living room so my daughter can use netflix etc!
Summary: I use this computer for television programing. So far it is performing well. I would give it 5 stars except for windows 8. I wish I would have picked windows 7. I added more memory and don't use the stand so the unit fits nicely under the television. I cut the cable and dish. At $60 a month it's a quick payback.
Summary: This is the 2nd one that I received the 1st one did not work and I informed Amazon and They Promptly sent me another and this one works Great The acer RL70 is a good media Computer how wever acer should ship these with 4 GB of Ram instead of 2 GB with what they have put inside of this with the AMD Radeon it needs 4 GB to work properly so I will order another Ram chip and that should speed things up windows 8 is sluggish because of the lack of Ram other than that you need...
Summary: This desktop is awesome, amazing design and good size for a desktop. I bought this PC for media center purposes, connected to a hometheater and a 1080p TV. Unfortunatly this specific model doesn't have enough cpu power to play encoded videos like 1080p mp4 or mkvs. Even 720p with DTS sound sometimes flickers or pauses for a second or two.
Summary: My unit has run flawlessly for a couple of months. Running XBMC over Windows 7. Runs silent. Wireless keyboard and mouse work well from across the room (about 12 feet away). I rarely use the remote. The only reason I don't give it five stars is there is no way to back up the installed OS as it is configured. The little utility Acer provides for creating backup media expects to find an optical drive.
Summary: Have had the RL70 for a month, my main purpose was to use it as an HTPC to do primarily internt streaming from HBOGO and Hulu. Initially video was choppy and I thought I had made a mistake. I monitored the system resources (from windows task bar) and determined that Iin using the Chrome browser I was exceeding CPU resources. After reading various reviews I followed the following suggestion. 1. Increase RAM to 4GB.
Summary: So I've been using it with Windows Media Center and XBMC as my media center and it works fine. First of all, it does indeed play HD content. I have no issue playing anything in XBMC in HD. Netflix I had to tweak (I could not get it to play in official HD). What I did was go to Netflix on my computer, account, manage video quality and change that to Better Quality. Then Netflix streaming (I'm using Windows Media Center) looks like HD (or at least pretty close).
Summary: Yep, the only reason I give this four stars is because I'm a hardcore Linux user, and could care less about the terrible Win7 experience, which I did use for awhile before having time to install my own Linux. Win7 sucks bigtime, especially when you don't use the mouse. My point is, I'm setting up the HTPC thing typical of this type of machine.
