Ultimately too low-power and sluggish; sometimes just doesn't stream videos

Summary: This review is for the Acer RL70 "nettop" computer, which I purchased in 2012. I returned it after it failed to meet advertised expectations. PROS - Quiet operation - Good looking design - Wireless full-sized mouse and keyboard included CONS - I appreciated the concept of a low budget "nettop" for your media room tv that is supposed to stream videos and play your existing media and surf the web, however this device failed to meet (and barely met) expectations.
Summary: Problems with it from when I first installed it. Freezes, slows to a crawl for no reason. I ordered it to replace an older machine, but didn't immediately set it up; took me a couple weeks to start playing with it. When I found out the problems, I contacted the dealer and was told I only had a few days to get a replacement. They seemed not to even know anything about selling me the unit; I had to furnish all of the information twice. Then the seller didn't respond again.
Summary: Good product but limited capabilities! It works great as a Media PC, but not very good definition (at least in a 54' LED TV) if writing or regular web surfing. Great to download a movie/TV show and watch it. Comes with Win8 and refuses to install Win7. I don't like Win8, i think might be great for touch screens but for regular PC falls short (as usual for a windows copycat). OVERALL GOOD PRODUCT, but I installed it in the living room so my daughter can use netflix etc!
Summary: This by far was the best upgrade that I have ever been through. It took less than a hour to get my Revo hooked up to my HDTV & to be up & running. There was no hassle getting Google Chrome up as my home page, & the tiles are very easy to navigate. Come's with a two month free subscription to McAfee Internet Security Suite. This is a great PC for media,& some light gaming. As of this date 8/22/13 I have had to refresh my PC twice. The PC is fine, the problem is Windows 8.
Summary: Acer platform is outstanding and performs extremely well as an audio and video server. Recommend upgrading memory to 4G, depending on your application. Rated 3 star due to Windows, 8 not the Acer platform.
Summary: When I bought this computer I didn't expect much, but when I received it I immediately installed the extra 2gb ram and started using it and it shocked me for how good it was. I mean it really wasn't bad at all and windows 8 only took me 2 weeks to get used to it. The whole package was just not what I expected, it was even better and I play my games on the highest graphics it can go and it won't let up. this is one of the best and cheapest desktop replacement I got.
Summary: I have this for about 9 months now and it is really good for HTPC. Just add a TV tuner into the USB and you got a PVR with the Windows media center that came pre-installed. I use the included windows movie maker to edit out commercials to archive it. Nice touch with wireless keyboard, mouse, and TV controller included. Unit runs real quiet and low power. The wireless in the unit is a 2x2 and I can stream 1080 HD files from my NAS somewhere else in the house.
Summary: These puppies are great. I do part time IT work for friends and have installed a dozen now at law offices. Bloatware is a particular hindrance to these machines because they aren't super strong. With all the acer apps off however they run a bunch of productivity programs at the same time nicely. The biggest advantage is the bracket that will let you mount it on a vesa screen or anywhere else. Making desks nice and clutter free.
Summary: This is the 2nd one that I received the 1st one did not work and I informed Amazon and They Promptly sent me another and this one works Great The acer RL70 is a good media Computer how wever acer should ship these with 4 GB of Ram instead of 2 GB with what they have put inside of this with the AMD Radeon it needs 4 GB to work properly so I will order another Ram chip and that should speed things up windows 8 is sluggish because of the lack of Ram other than that you need...
Not worth the $$ because there are better products out now

Summary: I actually bought this in the hopes of turning it into an XBMC/HTPC machine. The major downside that many other reviewers commented on was the fact that it only comes with 2GB of RAM, and that is not exactly enough to run a full fledged HTPC. Overall, its on okay computer that runs fine, but it is BLOATED with Acer Crapware. If you are looking for an HTPC in this price range, I highly reccomend you consider the Lenovo Q190.
