Summary: The hard drive on my easystore failed within two weeks, at the same time network card also failed making it impossible to remote in or run a system restore. I had to send it off to Temple Texas and get all my data wiped and a new network card installed. Also, Acer tech support has no knowledge of this particular system.
Summary: I bought this unit and found that it works beautifully. However after three months the hardware failed and I found that Acer simply will not honor the warranty. Endless Emails to obstruct, such as wanting the serial number no less than three times. (I even scanned the number and sent it to them.) There is no way to penetrate their system to talk with a live person and each Email response seems to be written by a person who has not seen any of the previous Emails.
Summary: After configuring the server, I was about to add a second Hard Disk. When I opened the drawer to add a Hard Disk - the drawer fell apart. Looking at the construction - the plastic hinge on the removable hard disk drawer was not completely formed and therefore could not hold. Called Acer customer service - first disconnected me after being on hold for about 15 minutes (I guess that is what they do at the end of their day - because when I called back - I was told to call...
Summary: I REALLY wanted to be able to use this server. But, in the end, I never could get it configured to run properly. I suspect part of the problem is that I'm on satellite for my internet and according to their TOS, they don't allow any kind of server in the home. I suspect they are blocking ports that the server needs. I could never get the server to connect to the internet (so no Windows Updates).
Summary: I have problem to install the Windows Home Server Application on my computer. I called the customer support and I was not able to pass the through the machine and talked to a real person. It did not recognize the S/N that I bought from Amazon. I had no choice but to file a request online. They insisted that the automated machine support works all the time until I asked the online customer support to try. They agreed to call me back but it never happened.
Summary: Bought this server last week. Installation went through fine in the first couple of hours. Then, one of the 4 indicator lights turned from blue to red. When I tried to set up a PC backup, an error messages says the server can't reach the attached computer because the driver was not loaded. Followed the instruction on Microsoft's WHS site but none of the methods suggested were able to correct the error. Called Acer support number on the manual.
