Summary: Was having humidity issues in my basement/crawl-space area. When I saw the negative reviews on this product, I was plenty hesitant, but at one tenth the price of the heavy duty commercial units, I thought I'd take a chance. Maybe I got lucky, but it arrived quickly, was not damaged in any way (though it included some spare wheels in the carton--see other reviews), and after two weeks, is working perfectly, including the control panel.
Summary: The unit was covered with oil when it arrived. Plug it in to check if it will run. The defrost light came on when the power button was pressed. Only the fan worked. The compressor did not run at all.
Summary: Initially loved the idea of a bucketless unit, since we are no longer able to carry a bucket out to empty. First unit received pulled water, but wouldn't pump it out. Return and replace. Second unit received wouldn't pull water, filled the basement with a lovely melted plastic smell and the side of the unit was red hot. Return and replace again, hoping for 3rd time's the charm. 3rd unit initially worked fine--pulled water, pumped right out the window.
Summary: I purchased (2) of these...... 1 didn't work. Oil in the cabinet indicated a leak in the refrigerant circuit. Sent the non -working one back for replacement only to find the replaced unit had oil all in the cabinet and didn't work. Sent it back for full refund.... 1out of 2 cold be a fluke.... 2out of 3 is a trend!!
Why would you sell a machine that won't begin to work?

Summary: I gave this thing a good try, but after 2 1/2 hours it did not collect a drop of water, but filled the basement with a burnt-plastic smell. My wife asked me to quit because she was worried about it starting a fire. Why would you ship without testing (refurbished). Happily the return/refund was simple.
Summary: Purchased the 550 bucketless royal sovereign dehumidifier. LONG story short..POS.will never purchase anything from them ever again. Extremely noisy, even running in the basement, it is unbearable. Doesn't pump water out. Sounds like a 747 is taking off. No trouble getting in touch with customer service but I've had 2 replacement units sent in exchange for the POS and both of the units sent were obviously used also. They didnt even try to hide it.
Summary: Mine actually worked a little, but that's only because I fixed it myself. Then it broke again. The first pump failed under warrantee. The plastic inside the pump was all mangled. Buying the pump was cheaper that shipping, so I replaced it. The replacement pump was a different brand, or at least was marked differently. After 2 years of very light seasonal use, the replacement pump failed. This time the metal spring inside the pump is broken. The pump is $36.
Summary: In the case of this unit... there is a chassis vibration and a seriously annoying rolling drone when the pump comes on. We live upstairs and it would have lived on the lower level. Un-plugged and back in its packaging. Too bad it's the machine that has everything! Glad to hear in others reviews that they had the stamina to replace and were happy in the end.
Summary: RS BDH-550 after one year start leaking, mess, each time the huge amount of the water on the floor repair is not availiable ,due to no spares and service around...the last chance only to through it out and never ever to see it again..
