Summary: I have owned many dehumidifiers and this is to date the worst I have purchased! I have had a damp basement since I have owned my home (25+ years) and with other models I have owned I have collected two and three times the water that this unit has collected. I had it set it up to run into my sump originally and was upset that my basement always seemed damp and smelled like mildew when the Danby was running so I decided to remove the hose and see how much the unit was...
Summary: Our small home is only 1365 sq.ft. So far this unit is keeping up with our north Texas humidity -- staying at the 45% I set it for. The drain tube for the pump is quite long, so we had no trouble setting it to pump into the laundry sink. We're pleased.
Pros: Compact, Easy To Set Up, Effective Water Removal, Energy Efficient, Pump

Summary: Very noisy fan! I called Danby customer service and spoke to very nice agents who never got back to me with very basic questions on the operation of this unit. They had to speak to their engineers who apparently never answer. Never could figure out if why one of the two units I purchased would automatically shut the fan off and the other would not.
Summary: The pump on the first unit broke after three months, but Sylvane sent me another one, so I have my fingers crossed that it will work. It has made my basement much dryer and has eliminated the musty smell entirely. I have it hooked up to my washer drain using the pump that kicks on when the bucket is full, so I never have to empty it. If that pump continues working, I'll be thrilled with the unit.
