Summary: This radio was purchased as a gift for my wife but we both listen to it though not very often. We are quite pleased with it. The volume is good and we love the " Favorites' feature. We are enjoying it and have nothing negative to say about it, hopefully it will stay that way.
Summary: Do NOT buy this product. It does not receive some of the world's major stations, including all of the BBC (apart from the World Service). No indication of this problem was given in product description. When the producer's customer service was queried about this, they responded with formulaic, contradictory, and dismissive comments. They could care less about purchasers; avoid this product.
Summary: This radio would have been as good as or better than advertised if it had the option of setting the Alarm for weekdays, weekends and everyday of the week - and forget about it type. Although non mechanical, the only Alarm it has is something that needs to be set "ON" and "OFF" manually. Otherwise the radio is good at affordable price (at Amazon anyway).
Summary: Purchased this unit from Amazon a little over a year ago. Gave it a glowing review at the time. Used the radio every day without incident. About a month out of warranty, the radio began to buffer erratically and drop wireless connections. Eventually, it stopped booting entirely. Unfortunately, there is no way to effect a full (factory setting) reset and firmware cannot be upgraded. Vtech has since discontinued this product altogether. This is a DO NOT BUY.
Summary: This is my second radio, after first cheaper brand broke.Sound is much better,it is better receiving signal from router and what I like best is you can add radio station not found on radio through your computer and send it to your VTech radio.
Summary: This is a very good radio but it has two major flaws. First, battery life is around two hours on rechargeables and three hours on alkalines, figures Vtech does not dispute. Second, there is no internal charger so the batteries have to be removed and recharged in a seperate charger, that will take six batteries. Pity, it is otherwise an impressive radio.
Summary: This is my third wireless internet radio. I've tried two Logitech Squeezebox units, and returned both, which was disappointing, because I really liked them. But both radios would not hold my presets and both require a running computer to operate them. I wanted something I could use that wouldn't require my PC or laptop being on all the time. So...after reading all the reviews on the VTech I decided to try it. And so far, so good.
Summary: This is an excellent product. I use it mostly to pick up AVRO "Baroque around the clock", but I have found another couple of dozen stations that interest me. There is no external FM antenna, so its FM sensitivity is limited. The batteries make it possible to use it anywhere you can get a wifi signal, but, unfortunately, if there is a power outage (not uncommon in the forested hills of Oakland), the alarm will not function. I highly recommend this.
Summary: I bought this for my parents who get their internet via Hughs satellite. It worked fine at my office with a land-line internet service. But at both my parents and sister's (also satellite) it would connect to the router (3 different kinds) but would not connect to the internet. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with their tech support but they couldn't come up with a fix. Very disappointing. I see the price has dropped almost in half in two months.
