Summary: I received this phone as a free gift for attending a seminar (the version with the answering machine). At first, I was really excited about this phone because it has a cool look to it. However, the actual operation of the phone is just plain lousy. The volume is very poor, and the placement of the ear piece is awkward. You have to hold the phone up to your ear a certain way in order to adequately hear the speaker on the other end.
Summary: Have several. Only complain, the color graphics on the screen are not as bold as on my other handsets. Not important enough to return the phone. Love the slim lines of the phone and the features in intercoming the other handsets.
Summary: RECOMMENDED: 8/10 I like this system a lot. I've had it for years. It functions well. great Range. Great sound qualtiy. Musical ringtones are great. super customizable. Unique photos for unique callers. Decent color LCDs for a home handset. The software on the handset is more advanced & EASIER TO USE than most house phones I've seen or used. Durable... the metal enclosure looks sharp and is tough. Very good HUGE & loud speaker on the handset.
Summary: I bought four of the Vtech phones. The reception is very poor to none existent in certain parts of the house and two of the phones all together stopped working after ten months. The phone's features sound great on the box, but I was never able to program the phones because of a variety of system incompatibilities. I have emailed tech-support several times and have received no response.
Summary: battery life is very poor/replacement batteries from v-tech are only about $6 w/shiipping. customer service is pretty poor. all five phones died in less than a year batteries fixed that but, the phones lost a vast majority of their usable distance! v-tech solution was to give me 15% off a new phone system! hum! phones died in less than a year & know i should by another one of your phone systems w/a whopping 15% off! don't think so.
Summary: I bought this accessory handset in April 2007 for $75. BTW I never use this handset it just sits there. The battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. Probably been a problem a few months ago, but I don't know, like I said I never use it. The charger is rated at 9vDC 200mA according to the label, but when I measure the voltage with my voltmeter I get 16vDC, so I guess it's been overcharging the handset this whole time. My base output voltage to the main handset is only 7vDC.
Summary: The vTech i5871 has been featured in the movie 'When a Stranger Calls' and on a few prime-time shows namely, 'Brothers and Sisters'. Unfortunately the phone is horrible! Errors messages include the following "unable to connect", "searching for base".
Summary: I bought this as a gift for my Mother because I have the same phone & LOVE IT!!! It was such a big hit!!! Programming is a little tedious, but well worth the efforts!! I can't say enough good things about this system.
Summary: Overall this is a very good phone. Range is good, voice quality is very good, speakerphone volume is good, battery life is good (3+ hours on speakerphone). I have been very satisfied with this one. The LCD is small but pretty cool--you can set up color codes for various callers that you can easily see across the room. Downsides are that the finish scratches very easily. The belt clip is a bit fragile.
