Summary: I use these phones very often outside and am able to go at least 1,000 feet from the base without any clipping or static, actually I am yet to hear any static from this set. The only time it went out of range was when I brought it to work by mistake. I've had the phones for more then half a year now and am very pleased with the phones.
Pros: Banner, Bright hacklighting, comfortable, Compact base and cradles, Durable finish, Easy Storage, Expandable, Intercom, Lightweight, Long range, Message indicator light, No external antennas, Safe, Sturdy
Summary: I was looking for a handset that has a message waiting light that works with Verizon voicemail after missing quite a few messages on our old system. This set works great. Both a blinking light and "VM" text show up. The phonebook feature could be better (requires manual syncing) but overall it is a good replacement and the price is good.
Summary: after a mere 32 days the handset#2, remote unit quit. It lost it ability to connect / recognise the base! The retailer ( starts with the letters "ST.." ) refused to accept an exchange, stating their policy limits exchanges to 14 days. But If I'd bought the "extended warranty" ... Imagine? "extended" now means beyond 14 days. Their intransigence is astoundingly callus, stubborn, UNcustomer friendly.
Summary: I purchased the Uniden Dect phone at another store in Dec 09 or so and loved it. Until about two weeks ago (Mar 10) when it began displaying a message saying 'please wait' and disconnecting. I no longer had the receipt but contacted Uniden anyway. Their response was to unplug it and then plug it back in, take it to a neighbor's house and try it, etc. I felt this was just a silly response and they had no intention of honoring the one year limited warranty.
Summary: Most people that have voice mail service know that they have a message when they pick up their receiver and hear a stuttering dial tone for a few seconds followed by a normal dial tone. Most answering machines in turn are able to register that tone and indicate that you have a voice mail message. This particular answering machine is not capable of recognizing a stuttering tone only an FSK (frequency shift keying)tone sent by the phone carrier.
Summary: I just got this phone to replace an aged Panasonic cordless that I loved. Was very frustrated that I could barely understand my first callers on the Uniden -- I actually had to put them on the speakerphone to be able to make out what they were saying. And I had to read almost the entire manual to find out how to fix the problem by changing the "Audio Tone," which is mentioned on page 15 (out of 20).
Summary: Uniden DECT 1580 Series (2 handsets, digital "answering" system.) Worst purchase I've made. Ever. Horrible customer service: no matter what the time of day wait times are always 15 to 20 minutes. Later 'den.
