Summary: When my 10 year old gigaset handset developed an intermittent fault with the headset speaker I went with Siemens again as the build quality and performance of the old handset was really good and I prefer having the central 'box' separate from the handsets. As my phone jack is in an awkward location in the house this lets me place the handsets where I want without having to have a 'master' answerphone handset in a poor location. Easy to use, simple to set up.
Summary: The base unit is small, and can be hidden away. The handsets are comfortable, clear and well-featured. It is possible to share directories between the handsets, and it is also possible to set up the system so that all can participate in the same external call (like 'real' household phones: no need to go through a clumsy call transfer mechanism when a shout will do).
Summary: hand sets, produce clear calls are easy to use + set up, they look ok too ,they are described as robust? which was my main consideration. I don't think they look particularly robust, but no damage in the two weeks I have had them, so hope they are .
Summary: The slightly complicated manual has caused one or two false reviews from other reviewers, who have missed things. The handset backlight does have options for the backlight, enabling you to set it to switch itself off in the cradle and stay on as long as it is in your hand (or off). One reviewer suggested it could not be switched off and stayed on all night. This is just not true if it is set up right.
