Poor quality item sadly

12345, Amazon
1 August 2013
  • Summary: Bought this product in Feb 2011 and it was no longer working by July 2013. Contacted Philips and as the item was out of warranty, there was no recourse but to buy another phone. Slightly cheap build quality but had overlooked this on the basis that it doesn't matter too much providing the phone actually works. I know we no longer repair things these days, but I still expect a new purchase to last more than 2 years! Would NOT recommend.

Looks great, but speak a bit louder!

Timarta, Amazon
20 March 2013
  • Summary: This really fits in with our taste. Volume is rubbish. Speaker phone is quiet and maximum volume is minimal. It's a shame because we love everything else about it.

Good Looker

Barry - Walsall "music lover", Amazon
9 December 2012
  • Summary: Superb looking phone and does what it says on the box. Clear voice and no problems with connections. Good range and ample space on the messaging. Easy to use with lots of features although to be fair I probably I do not use many of them as I like to keep it simple. Nice size base and handset, not overbearing, what more can you ask for. Numerous people have remarked what a good looking phone it is. Overall I am more that happy with it.

Disappointing

Peter O'Regan, Amazon
23 November 2012
  • Summary: I would only rate this phone as "OK" rather than good. The build quality is poor enough - light and flimsy plastic - and this is most obvious when you press the keys as you don't get a clear positive response from them. Battery life is fine - our two phones are usually off the cradle for a few days at a time.

Not built to last

Claire, Essex, Amazon
26 August 2012
  • Summary: I bought the ID555 2 years ago and about a year in, the LCD display on one of the handsets packed up; the screen has been totally blank ever since. The handset still works to receive and place calls but without the screen, functionality is very limited. There's nothing Philips customer service will do about it besides offer a money-off voucher for another Philips product sold on their website.

Philips ID5551B/05

monsterseventeen, Amazon
25 June 2012
  • Summary: this is a fantastic phone, i had no problems using it whatsoever, within 10 minutes of unboxing it, i had the phone's id set, ringtone, time and date and even started to store names and numbers, it is all very easy, i never even had to look at the instruction book, there is no phone hiss for me as some reviews might say, the only fault i can put to it is it doesn't have enough ringtones

Disappointing!

S. Walker, Amazon
1 June 2012
  • Summary: These Philips phones look really smart and modern. But after a month the phone started acting up and cutting out during calls and now we've had it 6 months the phone is dead completely! Needless to say I'm disappointed after our old phone lasted years!!!.

A joke

Mo "mo79uk", Amazon
1 June 2012
  • Summary: I saw this phone in the high street where it seemed to be marked down from £39.99 to half price. Normally that would ring loud bells (unlike this product), but I trusted the Philips brand and it looked like a nice handset. But after 24hrs it's been relegated as a backup phone. Why? The phone is shockingly quiet to hear on most occasions (there's a disparity in volume when choosing a ringtone) and sometimes callers are diverted straight through to the answerphone.
