Falcon Northwest Mach V Review

Digitaltrends
7 December 2014
  • Conclusion: The exact Mach V we reviewed will set you back a shocking $8,484. Subtract the costly paint job, however, and you’re looking at about $7,300. That’s still a wheelbarrow of cash and more than the $6,300 Origin Millennium we recently reviewed, but the Mach V is slightly more powerful.
  • Pros: Solid, attractive case, Excellent performance in all benchmarks, Surprisingly quiet, Excellent warranty, Competitively priced
  • Cons: Some RAM slots are difficult to access

Falcon Northwest Mach V Review

Digitaltrends
6 December 2011
  • Conclusion: The Mach V is predictably awesome. Although the strange motherboard orientation does result in a number of drawbacks, it also allows for excellent cooling while keeping the fan count low. As a result, this computer is free to be a true design statement.
  • Pros: Beautiful monolithic design, Effective cooling, Amazing CPU performance, Three-year warranty
  • Cons: Bang-for-buck could be better, Internal layout sacrifices practicality

Review: Falcon Northwest Mach V

Wired
20 October 2008
  • Excerpt: No expense was spared for the Mach V: Its 3.2-GHz processor is overclocked by 800 MHz, and the machine packs three Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 cards running together for screaming performance. While media files live on the 1-TB hard drive, programs have their own pair of 64-gig solid-state drives.
  • Pros: Pretty quiet. Go ahead, run everything at once while you try to hack the NSA: You’ve got 8 GB of RAM. Combination Blu-ray and HD-DVD drive. The best all-around PC of the bunch.
  • Cons: Load times are quick, but those drives won’t help games play any speedier. Airbrushed aluminum case ain’t exactly pretty. You can game faster for half the price.

Expert Review

ComputerShopper
5 December 2007
  • Excerpt: It's neither the fastest nor the most expensive of the current top-of-the-line Penryn machines, but Falcon Northwest's Mach V still offers plenty of gaming power, for an expectedly high price.
  • Pros: Outstanding gaming performance (especially with DirectX 9 settings), Attractive, intelligently designed interior and exterior
  • Cons: Expensive, No front headphone or microphone jacks, Only one hard drive and optical drive at this price
