Not the BT Calypso

Anonymous, Cordless Phones
27 June 2007
  • Summary: I am going to steer clear of BT Phones in general but I advise everyone to avoid this particular model as it's buttons are too small and too close together, sound quality is appalling (sounds like listening to someone talking though a length of guttering). These are going in the bin as I can't return them, altough they have some good features I can't live with them, they are rubbish. Be more wise with £110.

  • Excerpt: Had this phone system for about 6 months. It`s excellent and really easy to use. You have to register with BT for caller display and then it`s exactly like using a mobile phone. You can see exactly who is calling you and have the added bonus of adding all your contacts from your mobile phone sim card. The kids love it too because of the games. I also like the fact that you can ring the other handsets in the house and speak to them. Very happy.

  • Excerpt: I have had it for a short time as well and have to say very easy to use. would recomend for the family so the wife does harras you on the functions of the phone. good bonus is the card reader. A shame that you cant have your own pictures loaded in and ringtones. the higher models may do this so would say maybe for the bit of extra go for the slighly higher range.

  • Excerpt: Don`t know if I have been unlucky but have had the phones for two months and have had to change them as the internal ringer on one hand set broke, and the first set kept on making charging noises (bleeps) every few minutes when on the base, very disappointed I personally will avoid from now on.

  • Excerpt: Origiannly had these for less than a month when they first went faulty, They would ring once when someone called and then stop yet if you picked up the phone the person was still there and had been hearing ringtone. When you did pick up the phone they would have a habit of turning themselves off after 3 or 4 minutes. I am now about to return my replacments back to the store as this has developed exactly the same fault less than a month after it was replaced.

  • Excerpt: My calypso is now faulty. It started with the answerfone, it recorded the first few words of the recipient & then cut off. Then it stopped displaying the callers name (programmed in to the address book)Now it only rings once & cuts off. It was good when I first got it. But really the coloured screen is only there as a background & names & numbers come up as plain old black. You cant add ringtones etc. It hasnt lasted long.

Don't buy

Anonymous, Cordless Phones

  • Summary: The Caypso 225 has been nothing but trouble. So much so that I have given up and will be throwing away all 4 handsets. Egs of problems - Phone line appears engaged when it is not, unable to make calls (no dial tone), rings just once, mysterious bleeps...

All show and no go

  • Summary: We've had this phone for a couple of days now and its very low quality, particularly the speaker for ringtones is appalling and the voice sound quality has a buzz. We intend exchanging this product very soon. We had a BT phone years ago and we thought they might have got it together by now, obviously not.
