Excerpt: On the other hand, if I were to use this as a device for at home use, then it doesn’t really offer the full experience. For example, if I use this device to check my emails and browse the web, it lacks the ability to multitask. The hardware components cannot compete with a tablet. I already have tablets in my house so I really don’t see the purpose of using this handheld instead of a tablet. In my opinion, this is a bit of a waste as it lacks a purpose.
Summary: Archos Smart Home Phone First let me say it does appear to be an expensive home phone compared to the cheap DECT phones around. In my opinion IT IS NOT, you are getting so much more than a bog standard phone. This is a WI-FI terminal, house phone, Skype Phone and so much more. If you add up the cost of all the separate items would cost it starts to look a very good value for money purchase. I have read criticism for the plastic case, but compared to what?
Summary: On paper and in the pictures, this phone looked great and would have enabled us to sync our contacts from Google. However, the quality did not live up to expectations. The phone was lightweight and plasticky but most importantly, the screen was very unresponsive - resistive rather than capacitive I understand. This made it extremely difficult to type on the Android on-screen keyboard. Swiping was also very difficult.
