Build Your PC With the Reliability and Stability of a Mac Pro

Get Rich Quick, Amazon
22 July 2013
  • Summary: My cousin, a diehard Mac Pro user, urged me to design my new PC around this processor, which is the same one that Apple uses in its desktops. This processor not only is ultra stable, but it is compatible with error-checking memory, which I also installed (all 32 MB). If the expression "bullet proof" has any meaning, then it applies to the combination of this processor and error-checking memory. You literally can build a PC with Mac-like reliability.

  • Summary: I just needed something that was going to run. Not to overclock or anything. This is the heart of my music editing system, so I just needed reliability.
  • Pros: Steady. Fast. Reliable.
  • Cons: None

  • Summary: To echo a previous review, if you don't know what you are talking about please don't leave a review when its obviously your lack of technical knowledge and not the product at fault.
  • Pros: Great cpu runs cool and onboard video is good enough.
  • Cons: Didn't write this review for me.

User Review

  • Summary: Bundled this with a P8C WS and Kingston DDR3 1600 ECC memory in 8GB DIMMs. Built two identical machines with this configuration, both have been rock solid stable.
  • Pros: Good Price - Only marginally more expensive than the i7 3770 (same performance but includes ECC)
  • Cons: None so far

5 September 2012
  • Summary: For an inexpensive but powerful server this is an excellent choice.
  • Pros: This processor can take quite a load and still run cool. Burn in on the build only took the proc temp into the 70's with the stock fan.
  • Cons: None so far

for Lenovo E31 Thinkstation

Stuart H., Newegg
31 August 2012
  • Summary: I will be using this for video editing in a stand alone software only tower using Avid Media Composer 6 and video encoding with Sorenson Squeeze. So far both programs show no problems.
  • Pros: For my needs I'm happy at the performance increase over my old system, a Q6600 processor.
  • Cons: Naturally Xeons are more expensive than i-series.
