Great CPU

Christopher O., Newegg
21 April 2012
  • Summary: Been running 2 of these in a SuperMicro X8DAL-i for almost 3 years now, and they're still going strong. I'd love to build a new system with newer, faster chips, but these are still handling everything I throw at them.
  • Pros: Intel quality and performance, what else needs to be said?
  • Cons: Pretty much none.

Price is too good to pass up for this much CPU power

mauirixxx, Amazon
17 January 2011
  • Summary: Hard to beat the price - we bought 2 of these bad boys for our aging Dell PowerVault NX3100. It originally came with a single quad core CPU & 6GB of RAM. We now have 16 threads available, and bumped the ram up to 48GB. Total overkill for what it does, but man is it fast :P

They work great... but no heatsink.

Anonymous, Newegg
28 December 2010
  • Summary: The heatsinks are not included but unlike someone else (on another rating) stated, regular heatsinks WILL fit these. They do not have to be intel heatsinks.
  • Pros: Works great running dual-core with hyper-threading (16 virtual cores). fast enough for what I needed them for.
  • Cons: Heatsinks not included (but most heatsinks will fit them). Good luck overclocking them.... yes, that was sarcasm.

Great product

That netadmin, Amazon
30 August 2010
  • Summary: I ordered 2 of these to upgrade a Dell PE R610. They tested good and they run at great temps with Dell's heatsinks. I'm waiting on 2 more to upgrade another R610.

Great CPU!

Tong, Amazon
30 August 2010
  • Summary: matched this xeon with an intel dx58so and oc'd it from 2.4ghz to 3.6ghz! running strong and steady for 6+ months now with no issues whatsoever. i strongly recommend for older x58 motherboards since compatible cpus for x58 chipset is diminishing and are very expensive.

No heatsink???

David L., Newegg
28 January 2010
  • Summary: Oh and this is to Newegg! Next time you ship CPUs maybe you should put it in a box! Shipping CPUs in a padded envelope can be detrimental to the CPU. I hope this work and I would test it if only Intel included a fan and heatsink like all their other CPUs!
  • Pros: I have not set this thing up because guess what? It does not come with a freaking heatsink!!! Come on Intel!! If you're going to sell this and not include something as essential as a heatsink in a retail product then at least state it in your specs! I can only imagine this to be fast if only it h...
  • Cons: No heatsink/fan! Bad packaging from Newegg!

  • Pros: Exceeded my expectations. Well worth the premium compared to the i7 for a dual processor workstation.
  • Cons: Price is still a bit high.
