Not a bad processor if you're stuck with a 775 socket.
20 April 2010
Summary: For the value this 775 is good.. especially compared to other 775s that are only marginally better but quite a bit more expensive. I had to buy a heat spreader as this one got pretty hot using the standard Intel fan.
Summary: Wanted to upgrade from a E2140 give my system a little more speed. I don't game like I use to. With the state of pc gaming I actually own a console now. I figured this will at least give me enough speed for any decent future pc titles that aren't re-hashes of old.
Pros: Faster than the E2140 that I had. One more meg of cache. The mobo I have isn't worth trying to overclock, so if your into that this proc could have a better rating. Not that it's bad, but it isn't spectacular either unless your coming from an old P4.
Cons: I think this proc could be a little cheaper than the $73 I paid. 775 is a dead spec. Don't think its worth spending the $150 or more for the better procs and quad cores. I would hope that Intel does lower the price on the E8000 and quads to $99 some day, but you know they will high ball the consu...
Summary: This chip does not replace the stock E2140. Bus speed match. Socket match. Is in Acer's compatibility list, but NOT COMPATIBLE. Upgrading bios didn't work. Intel tech support said they didn't know, ask Acer. Acer said, "Sorry for the inconvenience." Additional commentary unpublishable.
