decent processor

Anonymous, Newegg
10 February 2009
  • Summary: This processor offers a big bang for the buck. I am currently ordering its successor, the E5200. Pentium dual core processors are inexpensive, but they still have enough performance to be useful.
  • Pros: This processor is fast enough for most uses. I managed to overclock mine to 2.8ghz. It runs very cool with my aftermarket cooler. Many people have been able to overclock this processor over 3 ghz.
  • Cons: The 1mb of cache hurts performance some.

Intel is a good choice

Nick G., Newegg
25 January 2009
  • Summary: I would highly recommend this chip.
  • Pros: This works very fast for the price, and worked very well with the asus mother board I chose ASUS P5N-EM HDMI LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7100/nForce 630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Cons: If you are looking to build a high powered gaming computer this is not the chip for you.

Good Bang for buck

Eric M., Newegg
29 December 2008
  • Pros: Runs at 30* C in my Shuttle box with ICE Heatsink and Artic Silver5 TC. Better than my C2D in a box with 4 120 mm fans and stock HS.
  • Cons: Stock Heatsink is almost always Garbage with Intels.

What a deal!

Adam M., Newegg
28 December 2008
  • Summary: Was a great upgrade over my previous CPU, a P4 Prescott 3.0 GHz. I was expecting only an improvement for multi-tasking, but even single applications are improved noticeably without any overclocking.
  • Pros: Cool, fast, great!
  • Cons: None.

Faster than it has any right to be

Franco S., Newegg
27 December 2008
  • Summary: for the price, this is about the best deal you can find; if you're looking for a mid-range home computer, this processor is great; just don't expect it to be able to do heavy-duty computing as fast as more expensive processors.
  • Pros: For such a low price, this CPU was excellent. At simple tasks, its just as fast as any processor, and multitasks great.
  • Cons: The 1MB cache really limits its abilities for gaming; This processor was never intended for gaming, though.

really fast depending on rig.

alexander a., Newegg
27 December 2008
  • Summary: really fast, overclocked to 3.33ghz fsb @ 13333mhz @ x10 multiplier on air, 18secs 1mb superpi on my p5n-d mobo running corsairs @ 1000mhz, and 12,220+ 3dmark06 on a single 9600gt, getting my 2nd card next week :).
  • Pros: can't beat this chip for the price. and as always, newegg has the pricing and shipping options that makes shopping a joy.
  • Cons: only 1mb cache but who cares, it's fast when overclocked.

great on a budget

Chad P., Newegg
23 December 2008
  • Summary: ASUS P5Q SE/R Antec earthwatts EA430 430W G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 MSI Geforce 7600GS
  • Pros: Possibly the best bang for the buck. Running at 3 GHz stable with stock heatsink. Cheap.
  • Cons: Hate the push pins. Seems to run hot with stock heatsink. At 3 GHz runs at 80 degrees celsius running prime95.
