Pros: Works perfectly as a gaming or standard use processor. Idles at about 1% usage. Running standard online games at moderate graphics to moderate high graphics have never seen above 10-16% cpu ussage
Cons: Runs very...very hot with the Intel Heat-sink..Buy an after market heat-sink for it
Summary: Does not include thermal paste! Be sure to add some to your order or you will have to do like I did and interrupt your computer building fun to search around town for a store that sells it. (note--the Zalman fan does come with thermal paste)
Pros: I've had this for almost a year now. It rocks and I don't regret upgrading from my old dual core system. This processor is amazing and I can't say anything that hasn't been said one thousand times in the reviews so I'll stop here with the "pros".
Cons: The only reason I'm writing this review is to repeat and emphasize what others have said.....AVOID THE INCLUDED FAN LIKE THE PLAGUE!. Seriously..Intel should have just sold this CPU without the fan. Instead of nuts and bolts the fan connects to your motherboard with cheap plastic push-pins. These...
Pros: What a proc! Didn't overclock too much with this yet as it runs great at stock settings. Great PCMark and 3DMark scores along with excellent framerates combined with GTX 285 with this bad boy. The stock cooler does a decent job of cooling. i get idle temps in the low- to mid-40s.
Cons: Initially I didn't lock down the CPU cooler to the mobo properly and think design could be improved.
Summary: The i7 920 is a fantastic processor. The reason for the 4 star rating is because the core i5 and i7 8xx series is now available. Before September '09, this would have been a 5 star review. There are a few things that an i7 920 will do better than an i7 860. It overclocks better at stock voltage.

Summary: I was contemplating about writing the review for this chip since there are so many people write about it already. But if you're still deciding what chip to get or if you're not sure if you're got the right chip then I'll give you my thought on this.
Its Overkill And Hotter Than Hell With Stock Cooler

Summary: Before you choose to go the I7 route there are few things you really should consider. The first is just how much speed you might actually need for the games and applications you are trying to run.
Summary: I only wish to add an important consideration I overlooked when I used this excellent CPU on my first build. It will underclock any RAM running faster than 1066. What this meant for me is that my nice 6GB of Tri-Channel 1600MHz RAM, would only run at 1066MHz.
