Best bang for the buck for heavy multi-processing
1 April 2011
Summary: I use this processor for design space exploration, running 12 processes in parallel. Gulftown was made for this type of job. I am fully utilizing all 12 threads 24 hours a day, and although I am using the stock Intel fan for cooling, it never overheats with this workload.
Summary: I use this CPU primarily for gaming, (Far Cry 1 & 2, Half Life 2 & episode 2, & Crysis just to name a few), occasionally I do Photoshop CS5, and a little video editing (home/family videos). I couldn't be more pleased. I've overclocked it to 4.4 with temps around 150 - 175 deg.
Summary: I use the CPU for HD video editing. Very fast and could be faster, if you know how to over clock. I was able to install the CPU with out any problems. I did need to remove the MB, to mount the fan base, so the cooling fan can be installed. Works very well.
DON'T FORGET TO PUT YOUR SEAT BELT... BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO JET !!

Summary: Pros: Extremely fast. Offers six processing cores, 12 threads. Unlocked multiplier eases overclocking. Cons: Expensive. Arriving a bit late in the generation. Bottom Line: At $999, the Intel Core i7-990X is unquestionably pricey.
Summary: I'm upgrading from an i7 920 running at stock -- and this is a massive increase in performance. I know that the 1366 architecture isn't the latest and greatest, but I wanted a hexacore processor without also having to upgrade my motherboard and ram, so I chose this chip, and for me, it's a good...
Summary: I received this Used-Like New CPU yesterday. When I opened the box, I was at first dismayed at what I saw. A crushed box that completely smashed on one corner all the way down the box. I thought, man what a rip off! Then I saw that box was still sealed and had never been opened.
Summary: This is an amazing top-of-the-line processor with jaw-dropping speed! Runs quietly and smoothly. Fantastic performance! If this is in your budget, you can't do much better than this currently. Another excellent product from Intel. Highly recommended!
Summary: I bought the 990x OEM (no stock cooler or instructions) through Serversupply.com (found on Google Shopping) for only $695. That is a hefty 30% discount. If you have an aftermarket cooler, arctic silver, and the know-how nothing beats this upgrade.
