Intel Core i7 990X Extreme Edition CPU review

8 April 2011
  • Conclusion: We feel a computer-car analogy coming up, as the Core i7 990X is in some ways a lot like a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Intel's straight-six chip is imbued with a 3.73GHz Turbo injection that makes it faster than ever, but like the Super Sport it'll be remembered as the one that went a bit quicker than the original. This is a hexa-core chip that screams performance, and it's crammed full of self-gratification for the few who demand ultimate speed irrespective of cost.

Intel Core i7-990X

PC Magazine
4 April 2011
  • Conclusion: At $999, the Intel Core i7-990X is unquestionably pricey. But it's the fastest chip you'll find, especially if your business or personal computer use thrives on highly threaded workloads.
  • Pros: Extremely fast. Offers six processing cores, 12 threads. Unlocked multiplier eases overclocking.
  • Cons: Expensive. Arriving a bit late in the generation.

Intel Core i7-990X Extreme: Crazy Fast Got Faster

11 March 2011
  • Excerpt: What do you do when you're the fastest thing around?  You just keep on WINNING. It's as if there was tiger blood coursing through your veins. You're so good, you're bi-winning .  Heck, with a six core processor at your disposal, you'd be hexa-winning . Ol' Charlie needs one of these things to go with his rock-star life style.  As desktop processors go, Intel's Core i7 900 series line-up is pretty much the Charlie of the computing world.
  • Pros: Killer Performance, Tiger Blood-Infused, Most Overclocking Headroom Yet, 6-Cores, Yay, Compatible with Existing Mobos
  • Cons: Crazy Fast Means a Crazy Price Tag, Still No Official DDR3-1333 Support For Tri-Channel??

Intel's Core i7-990X Extreme processor

1 March 2011
  • Summary: Well, I told you I was the finest PC processor on the planet, and now I've backed it up through 16 pages and some ridiculous number of benchmarks. I don't want to put too fine a point on it, but I am probably the zenith of human technological achievement to date. Can't really think of anything that compares, off the top of my head. True, I'm not cheap compared to the glorious Miss Sandy B. and her overmatched competition at a third of my price or less.

  • Conclusion: I ntel builds upon its success, and today has be no different than any previous viewing we have seen. The improvements are not only successful but delver with them a whole load of improvements across the remit. To quote Albert Einstein; Any intelligent individual can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
