Seller answered all questions, arrived quickly, good price, works great.

Griff Brown, Amazon
5 March 2014
  • Summary: Five star recommendation! Initially I had some concerns on purchasing a used cpu which I expressed with the seller, he assured me it was fine and if I had any problems I could send it back. Happy to report, no problems and it works like new.

Oh, This Old Thing??

Giacomo "Giacomo", Amazon
2 March 2014
  • Summary: Yeah, new is better...NOT. I'll stack up my LG1133 X58 i7-980X 6-core against and 3rd gen quad. Those of you that believe that newer and cheaper CPU's are better simply want to justify to their wives and parents why7 they need to buy a new machine. Don't let em do it Mom.

Overclockable gold

Andrew Foss, Amazon
1 March 2013
  • Summary: Yes, it's for an X58 motherboard. Yes Sandy bridge has been out for a while. Yes, you can overclock the crap out of it. General observation: If you have a case with a side window and hate blue LEDs, you'll need a different cooler: It has them, and you can't turn them off.

Words cannot describe this chip's awesome

Ashraf Eassa "Ash", Amazon
30 November 2011
  • Summary: Seriously, I don't really know what to say about this chip. I'm running this chip + Asus P6X58D-E + GTX 580 + 24GB DDR3-1333 + Corsair H60. It's absolutely incredible. Overclocks like a dream with the unlocked multiplier (just ticked up the multiplier to get 4.14GHz and added a little more voltage). It's pricey, but if you've got the money and want one of the craziest, fastest, highly over-clockable CPUs on the planet, then you'll be incredibly pleased with the i7 980x.

Great Processor for HD video editing

az401 "az401", Amazon
9 November 2011
  • Summary: I use Adobe Premiere to edit a lot of HD home movies. If you've used this software before you will know how process intensive it is. I edit 1920*1080 video. I've overclocked the pc to 4.0GHz and my PC just eats up any work I throw at it. I'm running duel GTX-480s in SLI which probably helps also. An expensive bit of kit but like most things, you get what you pay for. I've had this processor for just over 12months now and are very happy with it.

A beast processor

H. Al-Harethi, Amazon
15 August 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this processor on January 2011 with Asus P6X58D-E motherboard (great combination BTW) and they've been running in good harmony. The processor is really fast and I was able to use it overclocked at 4.2GHz easily with Nocuta NH-D14 cooler with temperatures in the low 30's and up to high 40's underload (not stress testing though, just heavy load). Running it normally (not overclocked) shows me it runs around 20-27 degrees.

Best. CPU. Ever.

Functional "Info Center", Amazon
19 March 2011
  • Summary: I've been using the 980X in my personal system for over 8 months now and it's STILL the best CPU out there. Intel has since made available the 990X which operates at 3.46 GHz, however it's still the same gulftown six-core chip. If you're looking for numbers there are plenty of websites out there that have bench'd this processor and it lives up to its namesake. Raw Performance -------------------------- Hands down nothing beats this CPU.
