Summary: This processor worked very fine for me. The other option, i7 940XM, didn't not worth the price because the performance would not be so far from the i7 920xm. I'm very happy with this processor, it's the best that my motherboard could take. My computer now is very fast!
Performance and value; breathe new life into your system with an upgrade!

Summary: I upgraded the processor in my Acer Aspire 8942g from the Intel Core i3 with Core i7. I had not upgraded a CPU before, so it was nerve-wracking, but ultimately very rewarding. I have NOT had any problems with excess noise or fan/heating issues. Installation was a bit of a challenge, but the issues I had with installation were related to my lack of experience with this kind of upgrade and the make and model of my laptop; not the Core 17 920XM
Summary: Great upagrad for your laptop with chipset Intel Pm55 I changed my i7 720qm by this 920xm. 30% overperformance :) C'est un exellent choix pour redonner un petit coup de jeune a votre pc portable. En jeux les chargements sont plus rapides, plus de lags.
i7 920XM = The ultimate in mobile processing power.
2 December 2011
Summary: The i7 920XM is a beast of a processor. It can handle very high overclocks and runs cool as a cucumber when set up right. It will punish pretty much any task that you set it to and help you climb to the top of the benchmarking ladder with ease. I highly recommend this CPU if you are looking to upgrade. Having it run at 3.3GHz on all 4 cores is a piece of cake when paired with ThrottleStop. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the almighty power of the i7 920XM.
One of the best investments for the money that I made for my laptop.

Summary: I replaced the stock cpu in my Asus G73jh laptop with the 920XM and after overclocking it and swapping out my sata hardrive with an ssd hardrive, this laptop now rips. By waiting a year, the processor upgrade was dirt cheap. Well worth the small investment. It easily overclocks to 3.66Ghz in turbo mode with no problem. I am very happy that I did this. Was much cheaper than buying a new laptop.

Great choice if you can't afford the official processor!
3 October 2011
Summary: My laptop is running on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit with 6GB RAM (it can only use 2,9GB, for some reason, not because the processor though) and had a Pentium processor @ 2.00 GHz. Bought the processor because I couldn't afford the official version. The processor was rocegnized and its drivers were installed just fine. Windows recognize it as Genuine Intel(R) CPU 000 @ 2.40 GHz 2.40 GHz, but it runs better.
The best processor for the money if you don't want to upgrade to SB
6 July 2011
Summary: This processor is blazing fast. The key thing to remember though is that it is a 55 watt processor. An average laptop won't have the cooling to properly cool this processor. When properly cooled and coupled with at least 4 gigs of ram, it flies. With a program called throttle-stop you can increase the TDP of the processor to allow you to overclock it much higher as well. I have it running at 3.4 ghz on all cores when I run intensive applications.
