Summary: Bought the CPU, Motherboard, Coolermaster Case, Corsair 620W PSU and EVGA 6600ts at a garage sale for $30. Best $30 i've ever spent!
Pros: Us it in combination with a Asus P7P55D Evo for a perfect server pc under my stairs. Runs a minecraft server and acts as a nas. Also runs some videos through handbrake before publishing to YouTube.
Cons: Runs very hot with stock cooler. Sits at about 90C When running handbrake. Make sure to get a aftermarket cooler of some sorts and all your problems will be fixed :)
Summary: Intel is always ahead of the curve, making a great product. I always recommend going the intel route for the first few builds. They have been exponentially less problematic for me in my 10 years of computer build experience. I still have a softspot for AMD and their approach at GPU/CPU architecture.
Pros: Great cpu for its time. I am still running it after five whole years of use. I am about to replace it with an xeon 1241v3 though. It is not that best at any one thing but has been a great overall processor for my gaming pc. It runs cool, and handles multitasking decently. It is not a monster and ...
Cons: Bogs under heavy multitasking (but hey its a 5 year old processor) Doesn't wipe my.... Doesn't do my laundry.. Doesn't come free.. Doesn't have huge fake balloons to play with..
Summary: I have had this processor for almost exactly 4 years and it still shows no signs of slowing down. It can handle almost anything. I noticed I never reviewed this little guy so thought I'd share the love!
Summary: I have been using this chip for 4 years now without a single problem. Have it OC'd at 3.8 ghz on air the past 2 years. Its stable as can be and have no heat issues whatsoever. It still plays all new games with a good card flawlessly. 5 stars all the way!!
Summary: I used to have an Intel Core i5 661 3.33 Ghz 4Mb cache and it was slow with games and image manipulation softwares. Now with this cpu my computer is much more faster and has a great performance. It's a huge difference.
Summary: upgrading to 2011 this month. i-7 got me through 3.5 years of gaming/film editing/graphic design with no issues. Heavy usage running at 100% for hours a day rendering video this is a 12 hr a day computer workstation.
Pros: overclocks like a charm, Runs at modest temps hyper212evo w/ HT enabled (prime95 70c hottest core idles at 41c game at 54c render at 69c) Passmark score of 6489. Overclocked chip 24hr stable with $70 gigabyte mobo 1 Ghz. Paid $179.00 in-store only deal.
Pros: Bought this in December of '09. Still running great to this date. Awesome overclocker, bumped this up to 4GHz with just 1.28v! Still holds its ground against Sandy Bridge in most day to day activities (gaming, rendering, etc.,)
Cons: Runs somewhat hot under full load. 50-60c CPU is cooled with a Corsair H50 w/ GT AP-15's
