Bad to the Bone!

j. Michael O'Hara, Amazon
16 October 2014
  • Summary: There's only one processor (at Oct. 2014) for the Intel 2011 socket that's better than this one, at twice the money for "maybe" 5% - 10% more speed IF you have the dedicated software that would use it, AND if you had the other hardware necessities to SEE that 5-10%. You won't. If you want or need 64Gb RAM (as I did), this is the best bang for the buck (6 core) processor on the planet. Save the $600 of the 8 core and put it into a Samsung 850 Pro SSD. I did. Awesome.

I like the processor much better than the motherboard and case ...

Richard L. Hewgley, Amazon
16 October 2014
  • Summary: The processor is fast but a little expensive. The Passmark rating was a 13191, 2nd fastest for the I7 processors. I did the testing and the rating I received were faster than the published ratings. My mark was 14210, very fast. I like the processor much better than the motherboard and case that I am using. This processor is an LGA 2011 socket. It is being used with 32 GB of RAM and a SSD 250 GB for the operating system.

Can't go wrong with an intel.

Some Guy, Amazon
5 July 2014
  • Summary: Great bang for your buck. Currently priced around the same as the 3.2, so I'd definitely recommend picking up this one. Overclocks well, running 4.4 using cheap heat sink and fan (default cpu will use lower multiplier when not under load). Cores throttle based on utilization. It is great that you can modify the base clock or the multiplier (unlocked).

For longevity

David Tullos, Amazon
18 June 2014
  • Summary: Bought this as an upgrade for my i7-3820, and it performs flawlessly. Processor is stable and fast. I'm hoping this will keep me from buying another gaming PC for at least 2 years.

Fast, fast, fast

Neutron Man "Neutron are awesome", Amazon
29 May 2014
  • Summary: This CPU is fast. I bought this for Physics Department build for a HPC in the department. It will be running particle physics simulations and possibly data analysis in the future. The 6 cores/12 threads means multiply users can be logged and compiling and running code without slowing us down.

Wickedly fast and runs cool to boot

Dave Angel, Amazon
18 May 2014
  • Summary: Wickedly fast and runs cool to boot. How can you not give a CPU that overclocks to 4.5 on air without any effort a 5 star rating! Just stuck it in my new Asus Rampage IV Gene microATX 2011 mobo and stuck a cooler master Hyper 212 Evo on it and let ROG's CPU Level Up go to work and instant 4.5 on air! And even at this speed the cpu speed still only get's up to 38C!
