Summary: Cpu is a beast. The best of the best when it came out. As of today still a very powerful chip. I have owned it for 9 months and crushes any task. Rendering also is a monster. Overclock it to get the most.
Summary: while this is a great processor their are far better ones out their now that weren't out when i first got this.
Pros: This processor is very powerful and will handle anything I do to it. I am able to run a triple monitor set up with numerous 3d applications running at once along with 2-3 high end games. the multi tasking on this this is pretty ridiculous.
Cons: I was disappointed to find out after a few hours of research elsewhere that this processor can only handle up to 40gb of total ram. you get the blue screen if you put more then that.
Fastest single socket processor I've ever owned (Overclocked 4.6 ghz)

Summary: A very fast processor for the elite enthusiast. Most people do not need the latest and greatest, and with that comes its very high price. If you can find it in a deal below MSRP, buy it and never look back. Do not be cheap and skimp out on other parts..
Summary: I upgraded my system and was completely surprised by the increased performance. I expected some increase in performance going from an I7 gen 1 processor to this gen 3 but never this increase. You can play games while crunching some heavy data files with no slow downs.
Summary: I will be upgrading my GTX 480 sli config when Nvidia comes out with the GTX 800 series, I have always keep my video cards for 5 years. I cant imagine what the newest video card can do with this processor. My GTX 480's are bottlenecking, but still running amazing.
Pros: Coming from a I7 3820 to a 3970x gained 30 frames a second on the New Tomb Raider game even using 2 old GTX 480 sli power hogs, WOW. Running Arma 3 is amazing also, I got this Processor from another vendor, so I did not pay 1 grand for it, not even close. Newegg is still a great place to shop. Th...
Summary: I currently run a 4670k and a 4770k but I will soon add this to my stable. I like that this is a Sandy Bridge-E because of the thermal tolerance it will take while clocking it over 5Mhz. I've seen very impressive numbers with it on a custom water loop.
Pros: I laugh at all the people who claim that this chip is too expensive. How its overkill. I would buy this beast if I could afford it in a heartbeat. This processor isn't meant for the average user. Its meant for the enthusiast, the users that have a passion for building and tweaking the best system...
