Summary: I've been building PC's for over a decade and have never seen a processor actually increase in value over time like this one has. I bought this thing almost 3 years ago, and it's worth more today than it was when I bought it. I have this thing running at 4.3GHz, but I've managed to get it stable as high as 4.5GHz - air cooling only!
Excellant Fast Bulletproof Processor! My second one!
22 December 2013
Summary: Second one of these I have bought. Need I say more? I build bullet proof, fast, non-overclocked machines for Family and Friends. This one is for my Brother. Used with a Corsair Force GT SSD, Corsair 1600 RAM on an ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe motherboard, it takes longer to post than to be surfing the net after it starts getting the OS from the hard drive/SSD. I would say boot time is only about 10% faster than the i5-2500K's I have, so if you want to save $100 that is an option.
Summary: Let me say first up that the FX-8320 or 8350 from AMD is probably a better value at the moment, I just managed to snag this for $219. I'm still on the stock cooler and clock (water cooling system is shipping), and it's taken everything I've thrown at it, including 6th generation console emulation, like the GameCube and the Playstation 2 at full speed and with enhanced graphics.
Summary: I built a PC with gaming in mind and this processor is wonderful. Couple this with a good video card and plenty of memory; you cannot go wrong. Intel does it again. I can only imagine how good the 3rd gen processors are. I highly recommend this one because it is a little cheaper than the 3rd gen processors and performs very well. Plus there are plenty of motherboards that can use it, which will bring down your system build cost.
Summary: I used this processor in a machine I built for my music studio. I also have Skyrim running on the machine. I have not had a single issue with the machine and it is blazing fast. I am very pleased with the performance.
Summary: Intel makes fantastic chips. I think we all know that. The i7 2600K is another wonderful creation. I have the intel overclocked to 4.5 ghz with no problems. I use aftermarket cooling ( Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) ) and the chip just goes to town. I render through most nights and the chip has held up it's end of the bargin. I don't believe that I will be needing another card anytime soon.
