Summary: I installed the processor with the included heat sink and the computer ran fine, for about 30-60 minutes before it "blue-screened" then would not boot up for several tries, then worked for 30-60 minutes again.
Pros: * Lower priced than most intel i7's * Great performance * Don't have to purchase or install thermal paste * included heat sink+CPU fan * recommended for gaming * Quality Intel support pages
Cons: * included heat sink+fan is difficult to install (see other thoughts), does not work very well once installed "properly" * may not be the fastest processor on the market
Summary: This was my first build for a computer, I was thinking this processer would be hard to install but it was sooo much easer than it seemed. it is very very fast compaired to my core 2 duo . have had NO problems. so far ( 2 months).
Summary: Researching comparing i5 chips for a new build. The i5-3450 and i5-3470 are priced the same. But, per Intel (http://ark.intel.com/compare/65511,68316 ) the 3470 supports some things the 3450 does not. Given that, if your MB choice supports the 3470, there is no reason not to go with the 3470.
Pros: Ivy bridge with PCI-e 3.0 support at a reasonable price.
