Summary: I was worried that I wouldnt be enough processor. I was wrong. It runs Windows 7 PRO 64 bit like a champ. Im using the on board graphics and they are great. runs a 24 inch monitor great. Plenty of processor for an everyday computer.
Summary: I have had this Intel Core i3-550 Processor 3.2 GHz 4 MB Cache Socket LGA1156 since 2011. About 3 months ago, I overclocked it up to 3.7 with Cooler Master V8, but it didn't run stable. So last week, I ordered my first water cooling kit and I installed to my case and everything was good. Guess what? I jumped the clock speed from 3.7 to 4.51 with no problem @ the temp. of 32 C & MB temp. @ 27 Not bad huh? Now I run it @ 4.17 because I don't wanna burn my CPU.
Summary: First of all, I am an Intel fan. Not only that, but I am stock holder and an Intel enthusiast (yes, we actually do exist). Hopefully I can answer some questions you may have about this processor before you put it in a system. The original Core lineup (i7, i5, i3) were generation one, Sandy Bridge is generation 2, and Ivy Bridge is generation 3. I call Conroe the lost generation, or generation 1.5 in the evolution of the Core line of processors.
Summary: It had been too long since the last time I clicked on an icon and the program popped up right away... Now, I finally feel like back on those good old days when PCs were fast and I could get a lot more done in a lot less time! Friends told me I should have bought an i5 or i7 instead, but for the price I got this little mean machine, I'm more than happy!!!
Summary: Got it for an HDTV application with an HDMI Intel motherboard. I was slightly sceptical due to some surprisingly downbeat reviews of the current wave of Intel motherboards. However, I have been using Intel motherboards for about ten years and they seembulletproof. I have some that were so caked in dirt and dust I was surprised they still worked. Took a chance and built the HTPC - works brilliantly.
