Great for an old machine to speed it up by updating the processor...

Summary: Worked in my old Acer Laptop splendidly, replaced an Intel 540 single core chip. Piece of cake to pull the 540 and replace it with the T8100. Now the Lappy flies...if only I could add more memory.
Summary: My son recieved an old laptop from my daughter who replaced her laptop with a new unit. He was dissaponted with the performace of the stock T5550 chip. I decided to upgrade to T8300 and it was a nice upgrade. Now he can run Morrowind and several other games smoothly with much higher FPS than the stock T5550. Also it runs every bit as cool as the old processor and seems to be a bit more energy efficient too.
Summary: I bought the used processor to upgrade my Dell 1525 Inspiron laptop. The original processor was a single core Celeron. This processor (T8100) is one of the processors that Dell recommends. The swap was super easy: unscrew the bottom panel, unscrew the 5 screws holding the heat sink, release the CPU clamp, and pull the old CPU. After cleaning off all the old themal paste, I installed the T8100, put on new themal paste (Arctic Silver 5), and reattached the heat sink.
