Summary: This CPU certainly will work for 75% of the non-gaming population. My Windows 7 build is 8GB RAM, SSD for C: (which has OS), mirrored Western Digital E: drive for non-OS stuff, and the video card (of all things) is the bottle-neck according to the idiotic Microsoft benchmark. I don't "do" games, so I don't care about video performance. The CPU handles all the browsing, Visual Studio 2010+ and DVD ripping that I throw at it.
Summary: popped it right in and it zooms. great speed for an old processor. it was good for what I needed. I just replaced an older E-series processor that only had 2ghz power. I later found out the mb was bad and not the processor. got a mb for it and now I have an upgrade. there is a noticeable difference.
Great performance, great shipping and great price - just great!!

Summary: I put the CPU into my ASUS P5Q Motherboard the day it came in, and it worked like a charm!! Even managed to get it up to 3.6Ghz O.C.'d and stable!! Very impressed with the performance, and would recommend this chip as a perfect upgrade from a Pentium 4 or Pentium D chip (provided your board will support it). Absolute pleasure!!
Summary: My acer had a cpu set with screws, so I was caught off guard that this thing had pop on plastic clips. I removed my motherboard to remove adapter and then set about popping the new heat sink on...what a farce. Not one of intel's better ideas. In the end just reused my old heat sink. Since installing the cpu the computer "binds up" from time to time and takes minutes to catch up with itself. I have noticed that at times core temp runs a little warm.
