Excellent

Tritone, Amazon
29 November 2011
  • Summary: I bought this chip largely based on all the good reviews posted on amazon.com. It worked out well. My boys are playing the new star wars game (SWTOR). And this chip makes a big difference - no lag, faster loading times, etc. Highly recommended!

A great CPU

Anonymous, Newegg
2 April 2008
  • Summary: If you're getting a new processor then this is good. It's pretty fast if you OC it so it's good for gamers and even office computers it's still good.
  • Pros: It's cheap and very overclockable. On the stock fan I got these babies to 3.2ghz and I'm planning to go more. I have absolutely no problems for a year and a couple of months that I've owned this processor.
  • Cons: It can't go to 4.0ghz on the stock fan?

Want a E6400 for cheap?

Dane K., Newegg
2 April 2008
  • Summary: I have not overclocked this processor, but from what I have heard it can be clocked up to 3.6Ghz, which is a pretty substantial overclock.
  • Pros: I have three Intel E6400's up for sale Specs are identical to these from Newegg They have been used for about 4 months, under light use Here's the link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=234882 PM Me on Notebook review, and we can make a deal.
  • Cons: I had to remove these from my 3 Optiplex 745's cause I needed to make some money.

User Review

Trev Z., Newegg
6 March 2008
  • Summary: The system has only had one problem in 20 months, that was when my ram shelled out sometime during the 8th month. They were patriots, I RMA's but got 1 bad one. But at the time ram got so cheap I decided not to have a hassle so bought another 2 gigs.
  • Pros: I have owned this for about ~19-20 months now. Since day one I overclocked it to 3.33GHZ on my Gigabyte DS3 P965 Rev. 1. Has been at 1.44V and 45 idle and 65 load for that length of time. Still runs great today, am able to play ever game still. Max clock is 3.7GHZ, limited by temperature it seems.
  • Cons: NA

Best bang for ur buck

Anonymous, Newegg
26 February 2008
  • Summary: you might want to spend a few extra bucks for a quad core since the cache on this one is kinda small and its a little too much money
  • Pros: I have had this proc for over a year now and not only has it worked in all 4 of my motherboards ive gone through, but it has been able to get up to 3.7GHz on my current maximus formula motherboard with it running at 3.2 stable.
  • Cons: its a little outdated now

Overclocker

Robert G., Newegg
9 February 2008
  • Summary: I was an AMD guy, until the Core 2 Duos came out. Excellent processor.
  • Pros: Highly acceptable to overclocking, I couldn't get this thing to overheat! Stock fan does a great job up to ~2.4 Ghz and I have this running at 23C!
  • Cons: Hard to find any...

Well worth the small cost

Matthew P., Newegg
5 February 2008
  • Summary: Nowdays I would go with the 2.33ghz with the 1333fsb for 1xx dollars. But this still is a really decent processor
  • Pros: It has been happily running at 3.2ghz and 1600fsb for over a year now. As well the voltages stay within a reasonable tolerance, 1.344v.
  • Cons: The only con I have is that it only has a 2m cache, but at the time the price difference didn't warrant spending 80 more on a 2.66.

Good Overclocker

Anonymous, Newegg
29 January 2008
  • Summary: Fantastic buy for the buck.
  • Pros: Running smooth @ 3.2 gHz with stock cooling on my Asus P5b board. Didn't OC right away, but COD4 and Crysis gave me the impetus. ;)
  • Cons: The stock heatsink/fan can be a little tricky to install, but no big deal.
