Summary: After I overclocked the CPU to 2.77ghz it seems to be a lot faster. The default speed seems to actually bottleneck the system. I'm satisfied with the CPU but I haven't really tried to maximize the overclock potential because I'm planning on upgrading the CPU within a year. The overclock was simple, I just changed the fsb and it worked without even changing the voltage.
Pros: value priced, 2MB cache, dual core, overclocks well
Cons: a bit slower than i expected. upgraded from a 2400+ barton @ 2.3ghz, and default 2.2ghz seemed slower than the barton at 2.3ghz in games. This could be an issue of Vista taking more resources though.
Summary: Initially could not get this going as I had DDR2 800 memory and the motherboard was rated at 533. Thought memory would clock down. Had OCZ's but never worked. Replaced with Kingston 533 and install was easy. Fan is very quiet and easy to install with the 4 pin fasteners. Much easier than clips.
Excerpt: BACKGROUND INFORMATION Processor can be considered as the most important part of a computer. It is an electronic circuit that allows the computer to execute various computer programs. It is also known as central processing unit (CPU).Though in modern days, the size of processors has been reduced significantly, but it used to be a larger and bulky unit consists of electrical circuits and wires stored inside a big hall/room to operate an old day’s PC.
Pros: High FSB, large L2 cache memory, 64 bit architecture, operates in low voltage .
Cons: Does not support Hyper - threading technology, very poor L1 cache memory .
