These older 64 bit CPU's have a new life in low powered servers, or Linux

smedleypye, Ebay
16 July 2013
  • Summary: Used this for Windows Home Server 2011. Had an old MOBO with a 32 bit CPU (essentially worthless combo) but, with this 64 bit CPU you can use WHS 2011. Servers don't need much power (for WHS) so these older 64 bit combos may let you resurrect something from the closet and turn it into something useful. Fifty bucks for the WHS and about 70 for a BIG HDD.....Now all my computers are backed up and can be restored easily.

Zero complaints about the Prescott here

Mark Guzowski, Amazon
19 February 2011
  • Summary: Lots of people complain about the prescott's heat output, but frankly it's no where near the worst processor I've had. I'm running with two standard fans - not special high output fans mind you - running the stock intel heatsink (not special heatsinks mind you), and the machine stays up with no problem. Can't say the same about amd MPs - special sinks, special fans (far more than 2), and still has problems if you don't do it right.

Excellent vendor when looking for hard to find parts for your PC

eGypd, Amazon
6 February 2011
  • Summary: I'm new to buying obsolete parts, so I was very selective on where I would buy the needed parts to fix an 8 year-old workstation. I had this particular Intel board previously on this engineering workstation, and replaced it with a Supermicro equivalent. It didn't last very long and wasn't any longer available from any source.

5 December 2010
  • Summary: The Pentium 4 3GHz processor works great and I do notice the computer operates quicker than it did with the 2.8GHz processor. It was a wise choice.

Pentium 4 3ghz ecu

hungkhuynh, Ebay
8 November 2010
  • Summary: It's probably top of the line in its generation. I don't see a significant difference in performance from 2.8 to 3.2, but that's only cause i use my computer in a basic manner

Intel Pentium 3 GHz

paramartad, Ebay
3 August 2010
  • Summary: I bought this because I wanted to upgrade my old CPU. This cpu is an ok one for today's standard. You can run most applications, though it's not all good for gaming. The hyperthreading feature is really nice, added with its 1mb cache. Unfortunately, this P4 generates tons of heat, so be prepared to open your side panel once in a while otherwise your computer might freeze.
