  • Pros: I've had this since 2010 and it has been stout since. Not one hiccup in 5 years, I am beyond impressed.

Running and Handles Everything

JESSE K., Newegg
3 December 2015
  • Summary: Would probably do a 3rd AMD build as it is great performance for the cost. Couldn't be happier.
  • Pros: I have had no issues. I have lightly overclocked the Cores and will go further now that I have a liquid cooling system in place. Any of the new games I played on it run smoothly. Sometimes I cannot run max quality, but that is a video card issue and not a CPU issue.

Just A Champ

conor a., Newegg
9 October 2015
  • Pros: Bang for the buck indeed. When I purchased this chip, I didn't have the extra funds to buy an aftermarket cooler, as previously noted here, this sucker runs hot on stock cooling even at stock clocks. Regardless, I haven't noticed (forgot in fact) until recently when I upgraded my video card to a ...
  • Cons: Really none, some say the stock cooler, but it functions perfectly at stock speeds for years playing the most demanding games. What do you really want?

A real workhorse

Adam L., Newegg
21 August 2015
  • Summary: This would not be a good buy today, but it was the bees leg joints 4 years ago. <3
  • Pros: I bought this in June 2011 and used it until May 2013. This CPU is a classic - good value for great performance. This was my first unlocked full-power desktop processor, and I will always remember it fondly.
  • Cons: None.

Still cranking it out.

Anonymous, Newegg
19 June 2015
  • Pros: This thing still runs like a champ after 3 years and water cooled. Amd keeps coming out with new stuff and even though newer benchmarks seem impressive, the devs aren't making things harder on cpu's for gaming. There's still a ton of life left in the chip. It's been steadily pegged at 4.0 overclo...

8 May 2015
  • Summary: I don't want to upgrade xD I have a corsair 100i attach to it.
  • Pros: 5 years later... Best purchase at the time. Still flawless Still giving that power juice that i need for latest triple a titles. Sure everything is far advance now, but still able to handle everything i throw at it. high settings. OC

Bang for your Buck

Timothy H., Newegg
20 April 2015
  • Summary: Going on 5 years with this fella and it's still performing well. I'm only just now starting to hit bottlenecks on games. Got it paired with a GTX 970 SSC, 16 gigs of fairly fast DDR3, a well designed case, and an aftermarket cooler.
  • Pros: Just a good processor.
  • Cons: This is a well known so I won't dock an egg - but the stock cooling equipment is junk. This thing just runs hot.

  • Pros: Going on 4 years, no issues. Still running strong and rarely ever maxes out, even while streaming video games and video editing.

Love My Phenom!

Samantha P., Newegg
23 March 2015
  • Summary: Sorry for those who didn't buy this chip when it was available, especially sine it was so affordable in comparison to other cpu's of the day.
  • Pros: I have had this since fall of 2011 and it's still running like a champ. Though I haven't overclocked it until today, I finally took the plunge after I added a cooler master hyper 212 evo. I'm quite happy to report it overclocked easily and with the new cooler it's running at 45 c while running pr...
  • Cons: I wish I could have a guarantee that the next processor I buy will be as awesome as this one.
