Summary: Though this is an older chip, if you're in the market for one, it is a very good one. This is a hex (6) core chip, which works very well with motherboards which can use it (AM2). Be sure to update your bios, & if you are changing from less cores, be sure to make sure Windows knows that it has a new bunch of cores to play with (it isn't always automatic). Do an on-line search for Windows doesn't see all of my cores. It's easy to do, just go to msconfig.

Summary: I put this in a Gateway DX Series DX4320-02e with stock mother board and its working great with not problems or overheating. This was just what I needed to run Plex smoothly with multiple trans-coding clients. 6-cores is the way to go for plex!! Best purchase all year!!!
Summary: I bought this for the faster speed as well as the number of cores. I'm happier with an AMD FX 4.2GHz 4 core. First of all, realize what you will be using your computer for before paying needless extra costs. I still choose AMD as my favorite.
Summary: This is the first 6 core processor that ever came out. It runs like a champ. AMD CPU's can do more multi-tasking and can remain stable during lots of processes. This CPU is still one heck of a beast. It will be up there with the big dogs for the next 4-5 years. Make sure you have a good heatsink/fan though. Try a coolermaster hyper tx3 or a coolermaster hyper 212+ or Evo.
Summary: I got this on tigerdirect for $85 bucks!!! +free shipping how can you beat that? that's like the same price for an athalon x3! Anyways you can pretty much have unlimited tabs up and this thing won't budge it's great but the fan sounds like a jet engine in your case so I would probably get another one of those even though it says "cool & quiet" but a new fan won't hurt you it'll just give you a better chance at over clocking so if your looking for a good cpu that won't...
Summary: I have had this processor for over 2 years now and I haven't had any problems with it. I use it for a lot of high end gaming so its not like its had a cake walk either. The only down side to this processor is the fan that comes with it; it's a little on the loud side by default. However, you can go into the bios and change the minimum fan speed to something lower so its not always yelling at you.
