More bang for your buck with AMD

cosmills, Ebay

  • Summary: I was looking for the best 4 core CPU that my motherboard (95W max) could handle and this was it. It works perfect slightly OCed and does not make any more heat than my old Athlon II X2.

  • Summary: great chipset upgraded from an Athlon II x3 95w cpu. using a stock cooler that was installed in the amd 3 core, cheap aluminum block so i blame that for most heat dissipation issues. processor is far up to par for mostly any old or modern PC games. a bit slow for running stuff like Dolphin emulator though. at stock 3.2Ghz its quite fast. looking forward to soon overclocking to 4Ghz on water cooling.

Great for its time

Enforcer, Amazon

  • Summary: This is an awesome CPU, at the time ( 2 years ago) I would have recommended it to anyone as I still have it and it still works, I put it in my wife's PC and it is powerful. Only reason I wont recommend it now, is the newer ones are out there for the same price this one is now $100-120. You can actually get a 6-8 core one now. I think this one has passed it's prime, and probably should have a price drop.

  • Summary: This is a very good CPU for someone on a low budget gaming build. You can get this CPU and pair it with a cheap GPU and get better performance than most APUs for the price. I have purchased this CPU twice and highly recommend it to anyone with a low budget.
  • Pros: Quad Core, Cheap, Gets the job done
  • Cons: none

Capable Gaming CPU

godnodog, Ebay
18 June 2013
  • Summary: Despite an outdated cpu by today´s standard it is still a quite capable gaming cpu. I have it paired with Gigabyte 990XA-UD3, 8GB ram and a AMD Radeon HD 7850 2 GB and run everything max out. Haven´t overclocked it because it hasn´t been necessary.

  • Summary: If you are on a budget and really a want a gaming pc or whatever, do NOT look away from these. this will be the best $90+ you will ever spend, and if you can get it cheaper you truly have won. it is a very, very reliable cpu. Phenom II is the sweet spot for quad cores in terms of price range and processing power (My Rig: mobo: msi 970a-g46 CPU:955 BE (not OC) Crucial Ballistix 16GB Geforce GT 630 1GB seagate caviar 500GB HDD Rosewill 450w )
  • Pros: Such a powerful cpu! Well ahead of it's time. As a gaming computer, it can do pretty much run any current title fantastically. ESPECIALLY if you have a great gpu(which I don't, but its okay since the cpu is beast). as a music recorder/mixer, it runs super smooth. as an image editor, it is pretty flawless. I am very happy with this cpu and cheers to the year with this baby :)
  • Cons: All the low end computers don't have it :(

Super Fast Delivery, and surprised to see it's an Unlocked Chip.

  • Summary: Surprised to see Core was Unlocked. Made a mistake in buying this 125w CPU for my 95w mobo. Luckily, I was able to change the multiplier and run it as a X4 2.8 and still use it.

  • Summary: Just brilliant, Revives my old amd2 platform for another 2 years. Imust be really lucky, but instantly overclocked to 4.0ghz, with just a modest increase in voltage. I an old aftermarket cooler, roswell which was running with the old pc. Mistake, underload, the temps would rise past 65. so I spent the extra dollars and bought a huge noctua heatsink with a 140mm fan. The beast is now running at 4.0ghz, rock solid 24 hours prime95. system asus m3a78 amd phenom 955y 4.0ghz.
  • Pros: Good update  for an old am2 platform. Super overclocker!
  • Cons: very hot, you absolutely need anaftermarket cooler, like all the others reviewa say.
