Pros: I have run this for over 5 years without a hitch. Started in my desktop but I upgraded that to a FX8370 Octocore, 16GB RAM and 2x250GB 850 Evo SSD's. Going on 3 years, this powers my server paired with 16GB of RAM, 2x256GB X110 SSD's and RocketRAID card in RAID5. Server runs host OS (SLES), 2 VM'...
Summary: I've never had a cpu fail. Though they do get useless, like my athlon xp 3000 that this BEAST replaced. This cpu did 4x and then another 4x more speed than that athlon for a total of 16 times the cpu power.
Pros: Works, still. Great hand-me-down cpu. Is still middle ground compared to top notch cpu's today. Will sill be useful for another 6 years.
Cons: Slow compared to top notch today. Only 4 cores. Doesn't overclock to 4ghz, never stable beyond a few hundred MHZ OC.
Pros: It's been almost 6 years when I bought this CPU along with a Gigabyte GA-MA790XT and 8GB Ram. It's still OC-ed to 3.6 GHZ. The Video card is the only thing that got replaced over the years, from a GTX 275 to a GTX 660Ti. Put a 256GB SSD in it two years ago. Paired with Antec 300 case and EVO 212 ...
Summary: This processor can be had now for a song, refurbed on various websites, and would not hesitate to replace. If gaming is not a priority, there really can't be a much faster or stable chip made lately that would be worth the price difference.
Pros: After 4 plus years, I can't find a reason to replace this CPU. It runs Windows 8 on SSD, and for what I do which does not include gaming, it is still blisteringly fast. Websites and apps open almost instantaneously.
