Amazing

Aurael D., Newegg
22 February 2011
  • Summary: It's a shame I glued the cooler to my CPU with artic cement, it'll probably be okay if I just replace the -fan- on the otherwise nice cooler...
  • Pros: Great chip for my old socket 2, it'll breath a couple more years of life into my computer before it's time to scrap the mobo and build a new one.
  • Cons: The fan is a -1 egg, it's a really nice high proformance copper pipe fan and it keeps the CPU cool. It's quiet when the computer is under light load but when it's under very heavy load like playing a high end videogame, it sometimes spins up load enough to sound like a jet is trying to land in my...

  • Pros: My first build i used the phenom II x3 2.8ghz. Impressed with performance for the price, built a buddy a computer with the Phenom II x4 2.8ghz. Good speed.
  • Cons: It came with no heatsink or fan....

Great Workstation CPU!!!

Anonymous, Newegg
8 June 2009
  • Summary: After putting it through the benching it is rock solid on SiSoft Sandra's standard graph of processors. It's up there with some of the best Intels, but certainly not an i7. If your looking for a multi-task Office Workstation processor this is your meal ticket. A true powerhouse
  • Pros: Its a "Phenominal" Processor with plenty of punch!!! The stock heatsink and fan is quite impressive with the copper heat pipes above and below the radial fins. Impressive speed.
  • Cons: None that I have run into as of yet. If I can complain about anything it would be the sticker is kinda small. I like a nice case decal it makes me feel like "This baby Rocks on all 4...."

  • Summary: I dont see any speed increase between the 3.0ghz dual core and this processor but there is definitely a price difference !
  • Pros: its a quad core ? its fast
  • Cons: it cost too much

That's Right

Jason M., Newegg
6 May 2009
  • Summary: It's still worth $164 even with the memory problem. It runs faster with 4 gigs on most stuff but lags with video edits, which then it runs better with 8 gigs. Seems like AMD is in perfect stride to stay about 1 year behind Intel in there processor capabilities and they do pretty good at dollar for...
  • Pros: 22% Faster than the 9600be it replaced very noticeable increase while gaming, multitasking and general usage. The cpu i got runs at 2845mhz with no overclock nice!! It's worth the $164 i paid for it. This cpu runs very smooth its not jumpy or slow just smooth. Comparable to an Intel Q9450 in speed....
  • Cons: I Didn't get a case badge!!!!!! I really wanted a case badge!!!!!!!!! why!! why!! why no case badge!!? Memory problem with 8 gigs slot 0,1 row refresh cycle time at 127.5ns slot 2,3 timings at 75ns that could just be my motherboard, but it's probably another bad AMD Integrated memory controller(IM...

Nice processor

Jeremy T., Newegg
5 May 2009
  • Pros: Can easily overclock to around 3.36ghz without changing the voltage. Multiplier is locked but still very easy to overclock. Runs well and cool. Stock heatsink comes is copper with copper heatpipes, which is pretty good for a stock heatsink. I still swapped it out for better cooling. Runs fast, st...
  • Cons: Wish it was socket AM3. Didnt feel like shelling out extra cash for the 3.0. Stock hsf does a good job at cooling if your case is well ventilated, otherwise if your going to do some overclocking I would look into some aftermarket products.

Pleased

Rob, Amazon
16 January 2009
  • Summary: So far this CPU does everything I ask of it, I hardly get it about 34% usage and the AMD cool and quiet works well, it slows the CPU to 800mhz until I need more than it brings the cpu back to full speed, unless I choose High performance than it runs at full speed all of the time, either way it is...

Good CPU

J. Shockley, Amazon
16 January 2009
  • Summary: I like this processor, fast, runs a litle hot, but all in all it's a good CPU. Only problem is, it is already out of production. AM3's replaced the AM2/AM2+. Hard to find a motherboard that supports this processor. Hard to get up with changing technology these days.
