Opteron 2220 2.8Ghz Dual-Core

Richard G., Newegg
14 February 2008
  • Summary: The Opteron 2300s quad-core processors should be out by mid 2008. I think the higher speed versions of the Barcelona won't hit the market shelves till late 2008 (maybe early 2009?). I'm saving my money for a fast Opteron 2300 series quad-core processor!
  • Pros: I use two of these on an ASUS L1N64-SLI-WS/B motherboard. The processors scored a 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index. They have a standard TDP of 95W. The 2220 SE has a TDP of 119W. The Scythe Ninjas "copper heatsinks" are the 2220 CPUs. I could go fanless, but I put two Zalman 120m fan on each ...
  • Cons: The processor is very expensive. I would have bought the 2222 SE 3.0Ghz, but $695 is too high for Me! The 2220 2.8Ghz will suffice, until the 2300 series quad-core Barcelonas come back!
