Summary: awesome but watercooling is a must i went with the corsair h100 but i still had to add fans to my vcore 1 and 2 on my motherboard after that i sit at about 28 or 29 or 30 celsius idle but on a full load ive only seen it top to like 40 celsius now with the stock heatsink/fan forget it id top 56 or 57 celsius with a full load idling would be about 45 celsius overall i recommend this cpu for the money and power it gives its a big bang for you buck and i use this for gaming...
Summary: If you are experiencing low fps, blue screens, and other generally abnormal computer reactions after upgrading to this cpu you had better check your motherboard's manufacturer web page for cpu support lists.
Summary: Great processor. Fast, quiet, and powerful. You don't NEED a better CPU fan or heatsink. It works just fine with it stock. If you plan to overclock, however, it may be advised to get a better one if you stock fan is not enough to keep it cool.
Summary: Previous to this processor, I had an FX 6100. It worked for the time, but I was having problems with recording gameplay (particularly at 1080p) and video editing (though, this may not have been at the fault of the processor). I was debating between this processor or an i5 of similar price (and leave room for an i7 in the future?). As far as if I made the right decision between these two options, I'm not sure. So, I'll just get into what it can do on it's own.
Summary: i use 2 of these in servers, and this CPU is great for the massively multi-threaded environment that a server presents, plus gcc has optimizations for the Piledriver and Bulldozer architectures. During testing i was able to overclock both the samples i have to 4.5GHZ by using a 22.5X multiplier, without turning up the voltage. Kept NB and HT to 2400MHz. Didn't test beyond that.
Pros: Good fit for servers. Overclocks really well.
Summary: I bought this processor for my gaming PC, it works great! it has a good stock thermal solution (WAY better than intel's stock cooler) and it hold great clocks. It has headroom for MASSIVE overclocks if you use the right thermal solution. I found that the best overclock using the stock cooler is 4.25 GHz. It's a great processor, especially if you don't want to mess around with liquid cooling. but it's even better with liquid cooling.
Pros: -Great stock clock., -It's 8 cores provide amazing multi-tasking., -Runs cool with it's stock cooler., -Overclocking is great on the processor., -Great for gaming., -16 MBs of cache.
