Replaced with an FX-6350 as soon as I could afford to get it.

Phillip C. Deaton, Amazon
4 October 2014
  • Summary: Okay, great processor for older FPS games and video editing, but if you're into heavily-modded RPGs like Skyrim or Fallout go ahead and get an FX-6350 because I got this as a replacement for my 4300 and this CPU actually performs worse than my old one.

great price for a 6 core

Anonymous, Newegg
6 February 2013
  • Summary: if your a gamer, this processor does'nt really help, i upgraded from a phenom 955 to a fx6100, i added the hot fix from microsoft that they released, lol it claims to be a 2% better on all apps and games....
  • Pros: was only 104.99 free shipping, was the only thing good about this processor, on convertxtodvd it was 2 mins faster than a phenom 955... so it was a slight improvement......
  • Cons: 3 eggs for the slow shipping it said 3 day shipping, and it took 5 days, and payed for rush my order, waste of money

Get a Vishera Instead

Esmeralda B., Newegg
24 January 2013
  • Summary: Thanks to New Egg for allowing me to return this and purchase the 6300 instead. *DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE you buy this processor! The 6100 does not live up to its potential and while the 6300 might not either, the changes made to the piledriver represent a fine tuning of the 6100 that at an extra 20...
  • Pros: Cheap with decent performance.
  • Cons: Vishera (6300) is a refining of this chip that performs exceptionally better for only 20 bucks more!

Not exactly a Bulldozer

Moises Jose Zet, Amazon
20 February 2012
  • Summary: I bought this CPU as an upgrade to my PC as I also needed to upgrade the Motherboard. Now AMD has been pushing this Bulldozer style platform for awhile now and to give the quick rundown of what it is.

AMD Black Edition AMD FX 6100 / 3.3 GHz processor Overview

KristjanH, Ciao
23 June 2013
  • Excerpt: When I started building my computer I needed it to be cheap and sort of good, so I thought that it should be on AMD ('cause of the price) instead of Intel. AMD offers a variety of processors and after a lot of consideration I came across to AMD FX6100 Black Edition, this is most bang for your buck...
  • Pros: fast, cheap
  • Cons: the kit cooling fan is bad

I would recommend it, just choose carefully when buying a processor (or this one).

  • Excerpt: I purchased this in a bundle about 7 months ago, it is an absolutely incredible product for the price. Clocked at 3.3GHz, this will work amazingly with the bog standard cooling fan that comes with it, however, I may recommend upgrading if you prefer a much cooler overall PC. What's in the box?

Hexacore ist nichts für Gamer

Amazon Customer, Amazon
7 January 2013
