Summary: It's hard to complain about any AMD line of cpu really. They have always been great deals. This one has outlived it's use though for even a bargain basement gaming pc. There are much better ways to go than this. Needless to say I picked mine up around a year ago and it's already starting to show it's age. If you don't want to be limited on future games then think carefully before buying this. Why would I say this?
Summary: I've been using AMD cpu's for my last several builds with good luck. I'm just an amateur and all the computers are for home use, mostly supporting language teaching and equity/bond trading. This build went together without a hitch, just lucky. Most of the parts were sourced from Amazon, a few elsewhere at a better price. Something maybe not often considered is tax when purchasing. At least for me, Amazon folds in sales tax which can be substantial for a large purchase.
Summary: I use this processor in a back end HTPC environment for recording, editing and transcoding TV shows. The transcoding software I use (TMPGenc XPress) can drive all 4 cores to 100% when transcoding multiple simultaneous programs. Average transcode time is about 24 min for an edited program to mp4 AVC, constant quality, with resizing. My only complaint is the fan noise (reminds me of the days on the flightline).
Summary: I have been an AMD fan for years. I used this processor in a recent build for a friend of mine in a lower cost system. On the very first boot it gave me a CPU fan error. I quickly pulled the cover of the case to find the fan hooked up correctly but not spinning. I gave it a quick spin to make sure nothing was blocking its motion. It started to work and hasnt stopped yet. This made me happy but I am not feeling good about how long it will last.

Summary: This unit works great , its really fast compared to my older processor. I had problems at 1st , thinking it was the processor at fault , but later found it was the memory , but later got everything working with Biostar Tech help.
Excerpt: I bought this cpu along with 4Gb of faster ddr3 and an EVO ssd to replace an aging athlon 64 6000+ 2Gb ddr2 system. I have to say that while day-to-day operation (I.e boot times / web browsing / light usage) has shown speed improvements this is more likely due to the ssd rather than the cpu, as such I would suggest anyone thinking of a similar upgrade would be better served putting the money towards a larger capacity ssd instead...
Summary: The AMD FX4300 was easy and straight forward to fit to my pc it does what I want it to do and more besides as well I would recommend this processor to anyone upgrading or on a bit of a budget build it really is easy and straight forward to install and set up it runs pretty quick as well between applications just don't forget that with this processor you do need to also purchase some ddr3 ram memory to get the full potential from it the best review I found to run it with...
