  • Conclusion: Don't get us wrong. The Athlon 850 is a fast processor, but we can't let pure performance dictate our purchasing decisions. When buying new hardware, you have to keep an eye on future products. Then again, you'll never buy anything if you're always looking towards the future. Everyone already knows that any processor you buy will become obsolete fairly quickly, but you eventually learn to identify processors that will give you the most bang for the buck before it becomes...

AMD Athlon 800 Review

  • Conclusion: While we were happy with the performance the Athlon 800 currently offers we don't like its slow L2 cache. Once AMD integrates the L2 cache on the Athlon core, we expect the Athlons performance to increase by at least 10% depending on the size of the L2 cache. (With the Pentium III Coppermine vs. Katmai Pentium III as an example.
