Summary: This brought new life into an old computer. Just by replacing the original processor with this one more than doubled the speed. No other changes required. When the system was built CPU's were several hundred dollars each so while the motherboard could handle a faster CPU I couldn't afford it. This was really an experiment to see what I could get out of the old system.
Well worth the minimal cost to breathe new life into an aging system.

Summary: Bought this processor to speed up an old system with a 1.5 GHz processor. Dropped in the new processor, dabbed on the included thermal compound, installed the heat sink/fan and was off and running at 2.13 GHz. My system is faster and has been stable since the upgrade.
Works well and keeps an old PC going a bit longer.

Summary: This is the highest spec CPU that my old ECS K7VMM+ motherboard can take. Apart from the heat generated off this, its a good way of keeping an old PC going a bit longer. Do not confuse this with some of the other AMD XP 2600+ chips that may run on a different FSB and may not be compatible with the motherboard.
Summary: 11 pounds on ebay, for some motherboards (133fsb)this is your fastest processor choice, it turned my old piece of junk into a fast workhorse, i now own 3 of these! its even worth buying parts and building a pc based on this chip as a cheap home pc. Can't say enough good about this chip it's a super and very noticeable upgrade!!
