Summary: This is a decent chip and it is fairly equivalent to a AMD Sempron +2400 which is also (1.67ghz). This chip will hold enough to play some of the games back in 2003 and early 2004 like Max Payne 2, GTA 3 and Vice City, Battlefield, Call of Duty and others.
Pros: Decent chip and great in its time. Good enough to work around a good budget PC.
Cons: Not a strong overclocker, you'd pretty much boost it up to a +2200 (1.8Ghz), plus it is only a FSB266 Chip.
Summary: As always, the AMD processor is stable and costs much less than a comparable Intel. The retail version comes with an extra tall heatsink and it's needed. The processor runs hot, but so far no problems. Detailed step by step instructions make installation a snap. I have it on a MSI micro ATX motherboard in a mini tower with a 300 watt power supply.
Summary: I have been using this since last year for my home system I built myself and it is running flowlessly. Ordering now one for my friend. Want to built again a home sytem for browsing typewriting and watching dvd. I can tell this is running faster than my laptop with intel celeron 2.4 GHz.
Pros: Works fast and reliable. Greate for daily applications, also for small calculations.
Summary: I have used amd products and was satisfied with their performance. The product appeared to be attractively packaged, with all included parts visible. I would purchase a like or sinilar product again.
Summary: The Athlon XP is a very cost effective processor due to its low price and high performace. However, you'll have to take some notes on thermal issues. Easily, a processor like this, could take your system to very high temperatures, depending on the machine's configuration, and this could cause severe harm to your computer and/or devices. To lower the risk, you'll need to invest on cooling solutions, for example cooling fans.
