Reliable Contender Still in 2015, but not cost effective vs 6 Core AM3+.
31 March 2015
Summary: I've been running this for probably 5 years and have to say this CPU is still a solid contender in 2015. Using this for having about 8 windows open at once (FF, Chrome, Outlook, Lync and so on) this CPU is more than viable, it's nearly impossible to peg out this CPU - unless you're trying.
Summary: This product may be outdated, but it works like a charm.
Pros: For under 100 bucks, over 2 years ago I got this thing and it has been able to handle anything I've thrown at it swimmingly. Never had it overheat, never had any issues whatsoever. There is a reason no one has any 1 star ratings for this CPU.
Cons: None. Other than now that it's over 2 years old, games are a lot nicer, and require more speed from a CPU. If you don't plan on modding games or running high settings however, this thing does just fine.
Summary: Would recommend, again, great price for performance for low budget set ups.
Pros: Great price for performance cost, has been pretty faithful to me and my gaming with my 450 GTS (low budget/ mid range setup).
Cons: After about my second year having it, it's beginning to run a little warmer than it used to and I'm investing into getting a fan for it because the stock one isn't working too well. Summary: INSTEAD OF THIS ATHLLON ii X4 640 I GOT SOME RANDOM DUEL CORE AM2 PROCESSOR. THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR ALL OF THE USED SELLERS BUT STAY AWAY FROM SELLER NAMED "VAHN" HE IS A RIP OFF ARTIST.
Summary: very good little basic quad core at stock 3Ghz, paired with a 550Ti it ran nearly everything i threw at it flawlessly. cpu mark is quite low compared to today's standards. just being slightly above my Athlon II x3 2.9Ghz. its a good solid budget quad core by amd for a mid-high end gaming pc build.
