I know its discontinued... but this is a kick-ace processor

Samuel H., Newegg
9 February 2013
  • Pros: This processor has exceeded my expectations in every way. I've been using it for 2.5 years now and it has been a gem. It stays extremely cool even though the only fan I have on the system is the one included by AMD in this package. I am generally running 3+ applications on my system with a tri-mo...

Great Bang for the buck!

Joshua M., Newegg
17 September 2012
  • Pros: Wow i bought this as a temporary CPU for my girlfriends rig of 600gb hd, asus gtx 550ti, 8gb gskill ram, 700wpsu, This thing preforms suprisingly well, we've played games together skyrim, Guild wars 2, EQ2 and man this thing performs great it keeps up with my Phenom ii X4 965 BE stock within 10-2...
  • Cons: None, i do notice a stutter sometimes compared to my Phenom ii x4 965 BE but i can't beat the performance for the price.

Fast for the price

Asher V., Newegg
30 July 2012
  • Pros: Using Windows 7 Home 64 bit with 4 GB DDR3 and a Radeon HD 5670 all on a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Micro ATX board, this thing flies pretty good. Converts a 2 hour standard definition (720x480) movie in only 20 minutes using Freemake, and renders a 1.5 hour 720x480 movie in Cyberlink Power Director 9...
  • Cons: I bought mine used, and it's hard to find these new anymore, but either way they cost a little more than they should should since Phenom II X4's are only like $20 more for a brand new one which will have quite a bit higher clock speeds and a superior set of features (such as the L3 cache and bett...

The $100.00 wonder

Jeffrey T., Newegg
10 June 2012
  • Summary: I hope AMD comes up with some new processor that would work as well as the Athlon did. We AMD fans still hold out hope.
  • Pros: I originally bought this to replace an Athlon 4600 dual core while waiting for Bulldozer to come out. Still using a 5 year old ASUS M2N-E motherboard who kept putting out bios updates which allowed me to install this chip. Well, we know how Bulldozer went (not worth the effort), so I am still usi...
  • Cons: None, money well spent.

Reliable.

Carrie H., Newegg
1 October 2011
  • Summary: Pretty cheap. I'm keeping this until i can settle on something for the am2+ socket as an upgrade... If you're on a budget and want something worth that money, go for this or something similar. you won't be dissapointed.
  • Pros: I have no complaints about this CPU. I have never once had any problems with it. After about 9 months i replaced the thermal glue on it, and it now stays at a steady 27 degrees celcius while idle, maybe 40 tops on a heavy load. Nothing leaves me saying "Well, i wish this was faster" or "why is th...
  • Cons: Does get overloaded pretty easily while doing music production. But that's my fault for not having a sound card to handle that. And, no l3 cache, but i haven't noticed a super tremendous difference in performance compared to other chips from around the same release date as this one, so the l3 cac...

Rock Solid

James D., Newegg
13 August 2011
  • Summary: With a COOLER MASTER Hyper TX3 RR-910-HTX3-G1 this thing runs about 44-45c in an 80f room afters hours of heavy game play.
  • Pros: I purchased the box (retail) version of this CPU over a year ago added a better heat sink and easily OC'd it to over 3.4 with stock voltages. It's been one of the best and most used PC's in my house (I have 4 AMD builds).
  • Cons: I paid to much for my Phenom II X4 965 running stock
