Summary: Brought this to up my system Board on My Debranded HP Pavilion p6210y from an AMD Athlon II X2 2.5ghz to this processor (I brought through Amazon) so I can run a virtual server as well as a Media PC and I have been presently surprised on the performance of this processor thus far. Worked first time up with no issues (The Installation of the processor was way easier than that of a Intel Processor).
Summary: Installed Win 7 HP 64 bit and used a Gigabtye AMD 785G mobo with this processor. Runs fantastic! Will it beat an i5 or i7?? NO! But if you want to game, rip mp3's, convert video, general web surfing and some moderate audio production work, this processor will take it no problem. I put a bigger heatsink on it but it does not get hot.
Summary: I got this because I'm running Climateprediction.net and The World Community Grid's Clean Energy Project. These are distributed computing projects that use personal computers to accomplish tasks that would normally require an expensive supercomputer. I love it! It worked great out of the box. I've heard about people overclocking these as fast as 3.7 Ghz, but I haven't tried yet because the CPU thermal sensor in Linux doesn't work.
