Great little CPU!

Joseph R., Newegg

  • Summary: If your looking for a great home or work CPU, this is yours. If you plan on high gaming, go for a bigger CPU.
  • Pros: I have owned the 425 model(.2GHz higher) since '09, and this little guy has withstood everything I could throw at it! I have been using Itunes, Firefox, AutoCAD, All Adobe programs, CoD MW2, CoD Black Ops, Generals, and much much more. It's also very energy efficient! Saves you money! Possible un...
  • Cons: Sometimes It will max out at 100% while running multiple programs that are big(like Adobe, AutoCAD, FPS games), but it doesn't lag at all.

User Review

Robert M., Newegg
15 January 2011
  • Pros: Temp maxed at 45 C (31 C core) using stock heatsink and stock motherboard fan control settings after running prime95 for 12 hours. Fan still not noticeable noise so I not sure if it was running full speed or not. This is on ASUS M4A88TD board in HTPC case.
  • Cons: None.

Grace Under Pressure

Anonymous, Newegg
4 January 2011
  • Summary: The heatsink is really, really dinky but it obviously can do its job from the above Prime95 test I conducted. AM3 processors don't seem to run at the stated voltages. This should run .775v at idle but runs at 0.9 Is stated to run at 1.25 on the top end but mine runs at 1.125
  • Pros: I have this running on an Asus M488T-I motherboard that has the ability to keep case and cpu fan at minimum settings. I ran prime95 in a tight case with the fans set to silent (can't spool up in response to heat) and this CPU would not go above 52.5C That may sound a little high, but that is with...
  • Cons: AMD's strange facination with 1800 Mhz as a second P-state in all its AM3 cpus. The P-states for this one are 800, 1800, 2100, 2500. So close at the top, why bother? P-states that make more mathematical sense would be 800, 1400, 2000, 2500.
