OEM installed--needed to swap out due to bluescreens
26 January 2013
Summary: This was the OEM processor in a consumer Acer X3400G pc which I bought at Walmart 1.5 years ago. For the last 2 months this machine was experiencing frequent bluescreens. The blue screen codes varied, but would often indicate unaddressed cache errors. Mean time from boot to failure was ~1hr. After some agonizing (i suspected the 225W power supply might be contributing to issue), i purchased a slightly upgraded 3.4 GHz AMD Athlon X2 270.
Summary: I have had this for some time. Much of the ancillary features have to do with the rest of the system. The speed of the processor will handle and internet task as well as light gaming with a good graphics card. I am currently using this as my DVR and home media server. It can fully handle delivering HD video to 2 network attached devices, while capturing TV over a tuner card and displaying a basic webpage.
