8 Years of Service

Anonymous, Newegg
6 December 2015
  • Summary: I bent a pin installing it originally. Straightened via credit card trick and it continues to run to this day. I long for the day that AMD returns to its former glory.
  • Pros: Very quick for the time period it came from. Incredible longevity.

Sometimes old school is still good enough!

G. Breiter, Amazon
24 July 2015
  • Summary: This may be an old processor but for what I'm using it for it Frickin kicks@$&! I throw multiple streams of HD Video at it and it just keeps on humming along! Not sure how it works for gaming but it has overclocking settings that could really push the speed.

Still going

Daniel L., Newegg
3 July 2015
  • Pros: Been in use 7.5 years and still keeps up for my everyday needs. I'm currently building a new system now and just wanted to add to the great reviews. I hope my new i7 5820k stands the test of time like this chip has.

Still runnin' strong!

eric g., Newegg
5 December 2013
  • Summary: If you're running low on you building budget, I'd highly suggest this processor. It has kept up with me for this long and has survived countless hours of gaming.
  • Pros: The most reliable, long lasting processor. I also have owned it since '07 and running it on an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. Til this day it still runs like new. I have put many miles on it and still plenty more to go! All in all this is a great buy and for the price you can't go wrong. Even w...
  • Cons: I've owned this cpu for 7 years and the only problem I've had with it is it has overheated on me in the past. Make sure you open your case up, take a few Q-tips, and clean off all the dust on the fan. Its a simple fix, and very necessary to do this every few months or so. After I cleaned the dust...

Great Processor

Bradley G., Newegg
27 October 2013
  • Summary: Always been happy with AMD.
  • Pros: Had this running since late 20007. Never an issue. It paired with ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe MB. Super stable. Fast with proper cooling there's never been a heat problem. Wish all were like this.
  • Cons: None so far after 5 years.

most stable processor -- better than Intel i5 i7 or AMD phenom or FX series

BASSEM J., Newegg
30 April 2013
  • Summary: AMD FX-8150 and FX-8350 are wonderful processors. Did you know that their integer core is based on the 1996 RISC processor Alpha 21264 developed by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC)?
  • Pros: Installed on Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe mobo, this processor has been running stable since 2008. Running Fedora linux FC5 then FC8. From 2008 until 2013, solid 5 years, I had to reboot the machine less than a dozen of time total. I figure out these are more stable than the fx-8150 and fx-8350 and AMD ph...
  • Cons: The high wattage, but it may be the reason why this processor with less cores and high wattage is more stable than new generation Intel and AMD. The Intel i7-3770k paired with an ASUS P8Z77-M has to be rebooted every other day, as I suspect it is the frequency of the PCI bus that has most manufac...

It suits my needs quite well

Titus from Texas, Amazon
2 September 2012
  • Summary: By the time I bought this chip 4 years ago it was already being replaced as the king on the block by quad and hex core chips. I got this for my msi k9a2 platinum and it runs pretty fast from what I can tell.
